Abuse of Caucus [whiner's caucus]
Self | 22 Feb 2011 | Natural Law

Posted on 02/22/2011 2:53:04 PM PST by Natural Law

An alarming trend is developing in the Free Republic Religion Forum in which a caucus identifier is being claimed for non-existent or impossibly defined groups. With the caucuses being self defined we see nonsense like the Sola Scriptura Caucus. Of course it doesn’t mean all Scripture, only the thread initiators or Forum Moderators definition of Scripture. Jews who believe in the Scripture of the Old Testament are excluded. Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, and Jehovah’s Witnesses are excluded even though they believe in the sufficiency of their own versions of Scripture. The not so transparent purpose of these faux caucuses is clearly to exclude a group of FReepers in a modern day repetition of “Whites Only” and “Irish Need Not Apply” prejudice. If this is allowed to stand what will we see next; caucuses so narrowly defined so as to only include one’s bridge club or to exclude an individual FReeper? How about a caucus designation for everyone but citizens from New York? How about a men’s only caucus? How about a caucus for those of us who drive BMWs? And what is being discussed in these faux caucus threads? Critical doctrinal issues such as ruggedized aircraft, home schooling, and civil unrest in Egypt. Give me a break!

Let the heretics rant among themselves.

So long as folks caucusing among themselves do not attack others ... let them.

You drive a BMW? You’re hereby excluded from the “Government Motors Caucus.”

There are two amazing, cutting edge features you should try out. One is the IGn 0 RE function. With IGn 0 RE, you can block out threads you don’t like by implementing the CHOOSE button in your mind. Simply CHOOSE to use IGn 0 RE and you won’t have to worry again about those threads.

The other amazing, super-duper, cutting edge feature you should try is the POST feature. With this feature, you are free to POST a thread of the topic you want to discuss, in a way you want to discuss it.

I know, both of those features may be new to you, but I suggest trying the IGn 0 RE feature first.

You should spend some time trolling around on an Apple Fanboi thread. It’ll toughen you up so you can tolerate this comparatively gentle hardball.

Srsly. :-)

I think the phrase “sola scriptura” does have an historical meaning, though.

If you are going to let people define themselves, they aren’t always going to please everybody with their definitions.

For instance, on the Roman Catholic side, someone might call themselves “the only true church” caucus. Actually for all I know, someone does. I wouldn’t like it, but that is how they view themselves.

Y’all have about as much grounds for wailing and whining about

ANY

HINT

of a purported, claimed, fantasized

“abuse”

of the caucus designation

as . . .

a fish has to complain about water;

a bird has to complain about flying;

an RC has to complain about being a cultist;

a demon has to complain about being evil;

. . .

Y’all have been trashing caucus threads that are clearly not yours increasingly every chance you get.

Yet if a Proddy so much as drives by and LOOKs at your caucus threads dozens of RC’s will sit on the abuse button.

What rank outrageous hypocrites.

SHAMELESS, brazen hypocrites even. Ghastly.

HINT: God almighty is not amused.

Regardless of what the RM or JR do or don’t do . . .

GOD WILL HAVE HIS OWN RESPONSE IN HIS TIME.

Excellent idea.

Of course, THEN

they wouldn’t have so many things to

wail, whine, rant, spew, throw dust about . . .

They might actually have to act older than 2 years old!

What a tragedy!

Was the addition of [whiners caucus] a deliberate act of antagonism or simply an act of passive aggression by a moderator?

Either way, let it ride. Posting a legitimate observation does not reflect badly on me in any way. It merely shows the depths to which the Forum and its administration has sunken.

GOD WILL HAVE HIS OWN RESPONSE IN HIS TIME.

Amen Brother, well said.

Why is it that the RC's can't just leave a Caucus thread alone. If a thread doesn't discuss their church why should they care. If they like the topic post an open thread on it. It's sad and speaks volumes to who they are.

Well, when some people can't stand the heat they build their own kitchen. I think it's a grand idea. It shows that the way some folks interpret Scripture depends on incestuous reinforcement and things like the Caucus system to protect that interpretation from the slings and arrows of Scripture based questions.

Arrogant Bustard hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned. If there is any reason to have legitimate debate on some topic do it in a way that doesn't permit screens full of blinking crap and individuals regularly posting photos of their forebears. Otherwise let them simmer in their own stew. They'll be having their own knock down, drag out, battles soon enough and fragment even further. That's the history and lineage they are from and the Holy Spirit can show their perpetual fragmentation here as He has throughout history. What better testament to the one true Church is there?

Regards

The Pope owns all your bases.

I don’t have a problem with most of those. Though I agree it is hard to pin down just what makes a thread a caucus.

I’d call it

TRUTH IN ADVERTISING

or

TRUTH IN WHINING [or about as close to truth as such whiners get]

or

TRUTH IN SPEWING

or

TRUTH IN WAILING . .

or

TRUTH FOR 2 YEAR OLDS

The only Sola Scriptura Caucus this Catholic has ever questioned was the one on homeschooling. Otherwise I have respected your designations.

That would be the sane, rational, civil, Christian route.

However,

THEN they wouldn’t be able to spew, wail, whine, rant, rave, throw dust in the air

!!!CONTROL!!!

!!!DEMAND!!!

etc. etc. etc.

I think it must be part of the genetics of their dogma or dogma of their genetics or something. Sure seems very indemic to the organization, anyway.
