Skip to comments.Victoria Jackson: Homosexuality and the cross
Posted on 03/24/2011 10:52:29 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet
I woke up Monday morning in my Atlanta hotel room and sighed, another boring airport day. Good thing I have Doug Gile's new book, "Raising Righteous and Rowdy Girls," and Bob Barr's "The Meaning of Is" to carry me home. I decided not to get the TSA naked radiation scan but the molestation pat down.
I was in Atlanta for the premiere of "A Clip in Time," a short film about a paperclip. It turned out fantastic, thanks to brilliant writer Alan Tregoning and producers Wes and Amanda Llewellyn and Jeff Rose. It will be screening April 1 at the 168 Film Festival in Burbank.
My cell rang. "Inside Edition" wanted me. I looked around the room. Do I have any scandals?! And, how'd they get my number?! They said it was about my WorldNetDaily column on Muslims. Then, they called right back and said, no, it's about the gay "Glee" kiss I briefly mentioned in my Muslim column. Oh boy.
It's not about me. It's not about homosexuality. It's about the cross. "The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God," 1 Corinthians 1:18.
At the TV studio, on air, I spoke for 30 minutes and mentioned several Bible verses including Romans 1:24-32, which puts homosexuality in a list of sins including gossip. I said Romans 2 tells us not to "judge" because we are all sinners. I quoted Romans 3:23, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God," and Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast."

Persevere Victoria ! Every Christian is joyously in the same boat.
I encourage folks to read the whole thing.
Would be . . . nice . . . in a way . . . to print it on cardboard . . .
and shove it some places . . . would be as close as many would come to enlightenment.
Guess that wouldn’t be overly loving.
Or would it.
I thought Victoria Jackson being a “conservative” was a big joke played on the public, but she seems like the real deal.
Wonderfully written article. I hope it gets a lot of exposure. She’s as good a writer as she is a comedienne.
This is so good:
“But, the line has been crossed. Actors play murderers, robbers and gossips, but the gay lifestyle is always glorified. The other sins always seem to be punished or redeemed, but TV shows never show the downside to homosexuality: the loneliness, shame, broken families and marriages, diseases. The shame does not come from “society” but from God. So, even if the gays get everyone in the world to accept their behavior as “normal,” there will still be shame, because it goes against God. Unless sin numbs their soul and their heart turns to stone, they will hear the still, small voice of God saying, “I have a better way.”
Also, what a great way of describing the media - pod people.
(The Huffington Post went so far as to say I "dislike sex"! Oh, do I? Ask my husband of 19 years!)
Can't one liberal stray from the pack and say, "Hey, Sarah Palin is the perfect feminist!" just to show they have a brain of their own? It's like they all got a playbook to memorize, "Obama: good. Muslim: good. Christian: bad. Palin: dumb. Lesbian: good. Gay: normal. Climate change: man made. Capitalism: bad. Socialism: good. Beck: fear monger. Van Jones: never heard of him. Soros who? Bigot, hate speech, homophobe, border racist, tea-party racist. Black: good. White: bad. Latin: good. Oil: bad. Bank: bad. Rich: bad. Church: stupid. Guns: bad." Whew! Got it! Now, I can be cool. No one can hurt me...
Well, she very clearly defines the MSM and Establishment narrative there.
Yep, she’s the real deal.
Victoria Jackson BTTT
Wonderful read! Thanks for the post.
Victoria, we are called as Christians to pick up our crosses & follow Christ, especially in this season of Lent. Persevere, sister! Never dispair nor become dispondent. Stay true to the Lord, no matter what!
You are right - definitely worth reading the entire article!
Woe. Great article. Really well written with scriptural support.

Victoria is anything but an "airhead." This sentence encapsulates nearly our entire problem.
Excellent article. Victoria Jackson is a gem.
Many blessing to you Sister!
Matthew 5:11-16 (King James Version)
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
If you have children and still have a t.v., you are a porn purveyor and a child abuser. There's no other way to look at it.
"Victoria is anything but an "airhead." This sentence encapsulates nearly our entire problem."
For anyone around teens, they know this to be true. It is the awful result of our postmodern culture.
I remember her vaguely, but I don’t think she was terribly successful. She’s very likeable in this article.
Victoria was much more successful and popular as an SNL player than most. Her great looks, talent for playing the quintessential dumb blonde, and her enormous good nature all play into it.
THX for your kind reply.
I wonder if she took time out to have children after SNL.
Too bad most of the conservative media doesn’t have the guts to speak out on the issue that Victoria has.
Victoria Jackson, a "Saturday Night Live" cast member from 1986-1992, is an actress, comedienne, songwriter, uke player, wife, mother, ex-gymnast, Jesus-follower and new grandmother ... not in that order.
That’s great! :)
She did a really good job with that one.
“If you have children and still have a t.v., you are a porn purveyor and a child abuser. There’s no other way to look at it”
Excuse me, I own a TV & have a 4 year old. We watch EWTN - both the big people shows for mommy & the kids shows for my daughter. I do not appreciate your comment. I am not stupid, and I screen what garbage comes into my home very carefully. TV is not the problem, it’s people that are the problem. The same can be said for the internet. Technology is a blessing from God. It’s people who choose to abuse/misuse it.
Kinda like the “guns don’t kill people, people kill people argument.
What a wonderful article!!
The pod people who run CNN also run the rest of the elite media. She won’t be working in Hollywood again any time soon.
Sort of like Chuck Norris?
True beauty really does comes from within.
I have a TV, several in fact, and I am not a “porn purveyor” or “child abuser” as you put it.
TV’s have a channel changer you know, and an on and off button. Certain things are allowed and disallowed in our house - it’s called good parenting.
In fact we just watched a fascinating show the other night about planet Earth on the History channel. So stop your blanket comments and assumptions already.
I have a t.v., too, but no connection to the sewer pipe. I used it to watch specific recorded items that I choose.
No, television is virtually totally corrupt with unmitigated perversity now. If not the shows, the obscene commercials, which would have been considered criminal only 35 years ago, are every bit as bad, if not worse because they are condensed, concentrated smut. If you can't see this, you are part of the problem.
Would you let your child wander through a field that you knew was a minefield; even if you knew that on 5 acres there were only 3 mines?
Actually, sadly, it’s more than one generation.
I have some gay friends/acquaintances, whom I care about very deeply. I've been honest with them regarding my beliefs about homosexuality and vice-versa. We're still talking, that's the way it should be and I pray the way it remains.
Victoria is about as much of an airhead as the fictional TV character Columbo was stupid. I recall seeing her as a guest on Bill Maher's program during the Clinton presidency and marveling that she was seemingly one of the few in Hollywood who wasn't fooled by Clinton....... or his wife.
I will have to agree with you.
My husband works long, hard hours and he enjoys a few minutes here and there spent watching science and nature shows which he very much enjoys. Then, of course, theres football.
I record Dr. Jeremiah, Dr. Stanley, and a few others for when, due to a rather serious disorder, I am unable to attend church.
There are still some good things out there. And t.v., like the Internet, can be used for good or ill depending on the operator.
A blessing of an article, 2ndDV.
Many thanks for posting it.
And....she can hold a handstand for about 3 minutes (old SNL skit)
IMHO, she is missing the boat.
Sure, homosexuality is sinful and not the path to inherit the Kingdom of God, but how that context is being communicated makes all the difference in witnessing the Gospel.
Believers can be as anti-Christian as the most heinous unbeliever, when they are out of fellowship with God and attempt to substitute worldly goals for their approbation.
The focus of our thinking is to be through faith in Christ.
When that happens, there is still enormous sanctification processes ongoing within every believer, and along different agendas, albeit all through faith in Christ.
The homosexual is no different than any believer before that believer came to Christ. Furthermore, there may be believers who lapse into a carnal nature, falling out of fellowship, because their old sin nature entices them via their past thought patterns into slipping out of fellowship with God.
There is no temptation too great than that which may be resisted, always through faith in Christ. The consequences of turning to Christ and letting God perform His continuing work in us, is a continual signification of the believer, slowly healing and improving in our spiritual, soulish, and even physical processes, to position ourselves where God has planned for us to occupy from eternity past.
The real joy in following along God’s Plan for us is to live the fullest life possible, by the unique way He has made us and qualify even moreso for eternal rewards, which have been predestined for us in heaven.
If you pay, you are subsidizing smut, plain and simple, even if you do only choose to watch the rare good programming. You still have to wade through the pornographic commercials, even if you have a "free" broadcast reception system.
If you have children in the house, you have no business piping the sewage into your home, in my opinion.
I almost answered your question on whether or not it’s paid programming, until it struck me ...
You don’t foot the bills around here.
Maybe you’re not intentionally doing it, but you come across as hostile and presumptuous. Thanks, but you can keep your opinion.
It’s amazing how many otherwise conservative people have been zombieized by television - they’ll defend it until their last breath. It’s tragic and extremely scary.
Nah. What’s REALLY scary is that you have the Internet sewage piped into your home but you don’t see that as a problem. Who are you kidding?
You have no idea what you are talking about.
Do you have kids? Do you have subscription t.v. or a broadcast antenna? Is virtually every channel except for a select few locked out?
If you answered “yes” to the first two and “no” to the third, you have a serious problem.
Ah yeah, because if I do not totally agree with you, I am part of the problem...
And to answer your question, Yes I would let my kids walk thru that minefiled - because as a parent, I would know exactly where those three mines are. That is part of being a good parent - knowing where the danger lies, and avoiding it without being paranoid.
Thanks for proving my point.
We are lost with this kind of thinking. The Left is not the problem as long as conservatives keep drinking from this trough of filth.
