Of course, if you REALLY want to get under their skin, nothing quite beats the Mountain Meadow massacre of 1857.

100+ “gentiles” dead.

The question remains after so many years, “What did the president (Brigham Young) know and when did he know it?”

Why IS it that SO many 'catholics' tend to defend MORMONs on FR

I, in no way, defended Mormons....read my post, I compared man made religions with one another and they all fall short of Catholicism...Period

And doing this clearly in support of Mitt Romney on FreeRepublic, the site that is best described as "exposing Romney as a bloody liberal" HQ?

I, in no way, favor Romney although not because of his religious beliefs....after all, we have a moslem in there now so how much worse could it be???I was not showing favoritism for LDS, I was pointing out that, in my opinion, one "incomplete" denomination is no better than the others....you are either a Catholic or an incomplete Christian...

Go back into your dream world, dude/dudette. One word refutes your assertion: INDULGENCES

If a priest can forgive sins in the name of Jesus, the church can certainly mitigate the penalties for having commited them...In your spare time, stop off in your local public library, look it up in a Catholic encyclopedia (I would assume that you do not have one)....before you make inane comments, at least educate yourself as to what you are talking about.

This is a really interesting comment: you are either a Catholic or an incomplete Christian...

My husband's cousin is a nun, just celebrated her Jubilee, she does not in any way have those sentiment's.

Ah...

Interesting.

I am glad the Catholic Church itself sees things differently.

“If a priest can forgive sins in the name of Jesus, the Church can cdertainly mitigate ...” I would expect no less blindness from a devout Catholic. Sin and spiritual cleanness is not an institutional thingy since the solution to the stain of sin rests with Jesus ONLY. You as a devout Catholic believe that the Apostolic mantle, with the ‘loosing and binding’ continued on beyond the death of the last of the original twelve/thirteen, as if what Jesus conferred upon Peter and the others can be passed along by men who have institutionalized that which is not an institution. I do not agree, and my disagreement doesn’t come easily but with decades of study and life as a practicing Christian but not a Catholic.

I am glad the Catholic Church itself sees things differently.

no they don't, Catholics believe that we are the church instituted by christ and are therefore the only true, complete Christian church. As the protestants came along, some 1,500 years later, they decided to revise what the original church taught. Is everything that they do wrong....of course not...is everything they do incomplete....yes. If you leave out, alter, reinterpret original teachings, you leave out, alter, and reinterpret the truth. Are you bad...nope, are you misinformed and misled, yes. Catholics consider protestants as separated brethren and would welcome them back in an instant....the Anglicans have begun to return as we speak!..By the way, if you are legitimately baptized, regardless of where or by who, you are a Catholic!!!! You have been baptized in to Christianity and the Catholic church is the only legitimate, true christian church.....welcome home

you are right...but we are still free to reject that gift and good works, penance, indulgences etc. are our way of admitting that we are fallable but through our actions, we admit that salvation is partially our responsibility. If we had no responsibility whatsoever, we could do anything that felt good, rape, molestation, robbery, whatever, and just assume that Christ had atoned for all our misdeeds....that's not the way it works

Your comments have a convoluted and hollow tone ... what can you do to add to the salvation of your soul? What little piece of work do you believe assists Jesus/God? What is the work which God requires (do you know Jesus told those asking Him that very same question what they must do to obtain salvation, and do you think God’s HOly Spirit needs you to make alive your dead spirit?).
