I saw that Gay Byrne/Sheen interview and I came away impressed that Martin Sheen is a very spiritual person and very bright, who was tightly raised Catholic and raised to be devout while growing up. He loves those memories and finds solace and comfort even today, even in Hollywood, with the daily Rosary. Parts of the Faith have made a deep impression on him and stuck with him, thankfully, but also it seemed to me, there is some Hollywood spirituality mixed in there, probably unavoidably, that makes some of his explanations and opinions a little loose when placed side by side with the Catechism, but a quite determined Catholic, that's for sure. He is a very intelligent man and a thinker, on a journey, and he is not perfectly catechized, but he is struggling through and God bless him for it.

That’s how I saw it.
