It makes a difference to some folks because the Seventh Day Adventists and other sabbatarian legalist cults want to believe He was crucified on a Wednesday because that would mean He had to raise again on Saturday, thus confirming (in their minds) sabbatarianism.

You're not even close. It makes a difference because there is a point to the day. He entered Jerusalem on the donkey fulfilling scripture to the very day.

The day he entered was the day they started inspecting the sacrificial lambs that is why he spent the days he did being inspected in the Temple .

He was crucified on the eve of Passover (which is a High Sabbath - Passover can occur on any day of the week)So what is the significance of being crucified on the eve of Passover ? That is when the Passover lambs were slain.

“You’re not even close.”

Pardon me for butting in here, but Christ being raised on the seventh day of the week instead of the first day of the wee, is used by Sabbatarians to bolster their case against having church on Sunday. Which they say makes us who have church on the first day of the week pagans, because the pagans worshiped the sun on that day. The SDA people say also that it is the mark of the beast to have church on the first day of the week.

For those that push the Wednesday starting date what they are really doing is pushing Sabbatarianism.
