Move over Sarah Palin. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is stealing your thunder. (And I dont mean Rolling Thunder.)
At this weekends Faith and Freedom Conference in Washington, Bachmann brought the house down. In a crowd of devoted religious conservatives, Bachmann hit all the right buttons and had the crowd screaming, clapping and on their feet.
While Palin was on her private vacation bus tour (in fact, her 10 year old Piper said to a reporter, Thanks for ruining our vacation.) Bachmann was looking and talking like a serious candidate for the presidency. Every Republican presidential hopeful and most Republican political leaders showed up at the conference, organized by Ralph Reed, the former head of the Christian Coalition.
Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Jon Huntsman, Ron Paul, Herman Cain and Bachmann addressed the gathering. Newt Gingrich sent a video as he was on vacation. House Speaker John Boehner and Rep. Eric Cantor were there. Even The Donald couldnt resist a cameo appearance. Palin, who was invited, was the only no-show.
Big mistake, Sarah. You should have been there. You just kissed off your base.
Now I know that Palin and Bachmann say they are friends. They have to. And they say they dont see any competition from each other. But if Palin really is considering a run she is going to be in for a shock, because from the point of view of the very religious Christian right, Bachmann beats Palin in every category: Family values? Both have large biological families, but Bachmann has also 23 foster children.
Right to life? Palin is anti-abortion and calls it murder. Yet she was lauded for her honesty in admitting she actually considered the procedure when she was pregnant with her last child, a Downs Syndrome baby....

Bachmann’s done. Suicide by campaign manager.
true.
Obama should be plenty of target for true conservatives to attack.
but Bachmann is cooperating with the libs at the Post.
and violating Reagan’s 11th commandment.
Bachmann hired Rollins, knowing that he said this about Palin, last year.

Well, Jesus did tell Judas “what you do, do quickly.” (John 13:27). So I guess backstabber Bachmann is quickly doing those things that is necessary against Palin
This is the MSM encouraging political fighting among two conservative women candidates for ‘12 POTUS, so that the eventual winner on the GOP side will be a RINO. The MSM will, always, discourage conservatism while, also, encouraging RINO politics, during each and every GOP Presidential Primary season. The MSM will, always, choose the most electable leftist candidate running for POTUS, during each and every general election that, also, involves choosing a President.
I am torn between Bachmann and Cain. That is the “showdown” for me. Of course, by the time Vermont gets to vote, there may be no such choice left.
Or is she just reveling in a Cold War feud, fabricated and stoked by the GOP establishment, between two conservative women whom neither haven't declared their presidential runs.
There's no comparison between Bachmann and Palin. It is the equivalent of comparing a .22 with the B-52 Flying Fortress.
I read the article, Sally Quinn has found a woman that she (temporarily) approves of, and after three years of attacking Palin, it still isn’t Palin.
You can put these two together, multiply their accomplishments and executive experience times 100 and they still don’t measure up to Governor Palin.
This personality and fan club type my girl versus your girl thinking is dangerous to the cause. I don’t care about the personal fortunes of Palin, Bachmann, etc., etc., etc. I just want a somebody elected who’ll end Roe v Wade and the legalized death industry.
Who has more chance of doing those types of things? A back-bencher in congress or a governor, author of our 2010 success, an energy commission chair and mayor who got bills passed? Think on that.
Cain’s been doing well. Bachmann’s funds will dry up well before Ames if she has another day like today though.
What Sally Quinn has absolutely no grasp of is how the Holy Spirit works. She’s attempting to spark a fight (I almost said catfight) about who is the most Holy deserving candidate which good evangelicals must then vote for in lockstep.
God chooses agents, leaders and warriors- He chose some no one else would have. Samson comes to mind, Rahab, and of course David.
She thinks she has some kind of plausible deniability. But all she is doing is being a tool for the RINOs and the establishment.
Bachmann has brought in hit man Ed Rollins to attack Palin, this is a serious boost for the Romney campaign, which by the way was the reason that Quinn wrote this antiPalin piece.
I like Michele Bachmann, but I'd pick Sarah before her. Now, she may have dug her own grave with this latest stunt with Ed Rollins trashing Sarah. Perhaps things will pan out. We shall see.
This is getting downright comical... all the glowing Establishment press that Bachmann (whom they’ve always hated almost as much as Palin) is getting. And now, from Sally Quinn? I mean, good grief! Sally Quinn?!? Can it be any more transparent that this is nothing more than a massive, highly-calculated attempt to derail Palin?
And, as I already mentioned in a previous thread, I’ve really lost all respect for Bachmann due to her hiring of that scumbag Ed Rollins. I don’t know whether Bachmann is going along with this for a big payoff from the GOP bigwigs, or is perhaps a clueless stooge. But whatever the case, it sure makes her look absolutely awful.
God, I so did not want this to become a media driven issue...ignore and choose the best gang, please...I know will but my opinions may vary from yours...yet I will still respect you if that choice differs from mine over these two fine conservatives. Let them both present their best. I would marry, errrrrrr, mean vote for either.
MB had better hope that previous contributors (like me) don’t start demanding refunds.
Ed’s check might bounce.
I happen to agree with you. But some of the stuff out of the Bachmann camp has been a little too negative against Palin for my taste. A Bachmann-Palin civil war does nobody any good except Gov. Mitt.
So the WaPo prostitute is backing Bachmann?
If Michelle is long gone...U can always write in Ed Rollins.... He’ll still be whoring for the establishment RINOâs next stalking horse ....
Maybe so, but it looks like Bachmann is a One-Trick Pony. After knocking ‘em dead over the weekend, which she should have followed right up by taking the high road, she instead hired Ed Rollins and took a sharp lurch to the left and went over the cliff! Ed Rollins is the Republican version of Bob Beckel. Several hitches as a “campaign manager” but not one VICTORY to his name; EVER!
Me too. I like both Cain and Bachmann. Either one is OK with me.
A Bachmann-Palin civil war does nobody any good except Gov. Mitt.
BTW the feud is one sided. All the vitriol is coming from Bachmann via Rollins.
Bachmann, if you have something to say about Sarah, say it yourself. Don’t be a coward. You are standing on the sidelines acting like a low-life, silently cheering on a mugger. Sarah never uses surrogates. She’s a real, decent woman. Bob
The only things Bachmann could steal from Palin are votes by staying in a race that she knows she has no chance of winning.
Palin: The Undefeated Producer Stephen Bannons Bloggers Briefing Posted by jackiesic on June 7, 2011
The Heritage Foundation hosted a bloggers briefing earlier today with Stephen Bannon, producer of the movie The Undefeated. You may recall that this blog has published two previous posts promoting this epic film here and here. While Mr. Bannon made many statements about the film, I believe the most memorable statement is when he attempts to describe Sarah Palin and says she is a woman of unique substance. Indeed she is Mr. Bannon, indeed she is.

This poison coming from the Bachmann campaign makes me think that she may be working for Romney. You have to wonder. It’s sick stuff, and impossible to forget.
Why not pit romney vs bachmann instead of palin vs bachmann. Media is always looking for ways to marginalize Palin
Only need to read as far as the name Sally Quinn! Sally Quinn is a anti Christian Palin hater.
So add the name Sally Quinn to the list of MSM whores that have endorsed Michelle Bachmann. The list is getting quite long, Chris Matthews, Andrea Mitchell, etc etc etc, it`s a very long list.
Just not sure that MB is really looking for the endorsements of these MSM losers
The idea that she would even consider running against Sarah Palin, shows such poor judgment.
I lost all respect for MB when she came to that conclusion...MB is only about MB
Palin is 2nd in the race. Bachmann has less than 5% support. There are more Palin first supporters than Bachmann first supporters
That’s a question for Sally Quinn and 5,000 other jourbalists, bloggers, pundits, Dem operatives, editors amd talking heads.
Rob, please explain to me why Bachmann and Cain would make better Presidents than Sarah. I’m puzzled, but eager to learn. Thanks, Bob

“Divide and conquer, right out of the Alinsky playbook.”
Absolutely . . . but far too many of our fellow citizens indulge in this ‘tis-so/’tain-so exchanges while citing any number of theologies, philosophies, cultures, or race-baiting to reinforce their argument.
If everyone put aside their difference-hammer and picked up the hammer for the protection of liberty, then they’ve acquired the perfect tool. It’s inarguable, easy to understand and is hostile only to dishonorable behaviors. It’s what our founding fathers had in mind for crafting a civilized society that was tolerant of ALL honorable behaviors.
The despotic progressives have shown time and time again that you can create cracks in honorable foundations by getting folks to argue about religion, abortion, discrimination, etc. etc. All they have to do is point an accusatory finger and the crack is made. Throw enough ‘issues’ in the air and folks tend to forget what they set out to do in the first place.
It’s the political metaphor for “When you’re up to your ass in alligators, it’s difficult to recall that your task was to drain the swap.” Well, the swamp is in Washington DC and as long as we keep responding to alligator-bites their future is secure. That is until their golden goose dies.
The truly heroic leadership will ignore the alligator rants, call for the protection of liberty, and crank up the pump.
"Big mistake, Sarah. You should have been there. You just kissed off your base."
I realize this is about Bachmann but this caught my attention.
“While Palin was on her private vacation bus tour (in fact, her 10 year old Piper said to a reporter, Thanks for ruining our vacation.) “
If you want to go on a “private” bus tour vacation perhaps you should not wrap the bus up like a campaign bus. I doubt the Palin’s thought it would ever be “private” but Piper is right, the LSM did ruin their trip.
Divide? I’m not a fan of Michelle and it has nothing to do with Palin. This woman has tried to co-opt the conservative movement to advance herself. I’m not interested in serving a politician who’s interested in their own career above idealogy.
Right now I’m in the “no way in Hell do I vote for Michelle camp” and “looking at other option because Palin’s poll numbers are radioactive” camp.
I trust as much in this harpy’s screed, as I do faith in Bill O’Reilly’s phony poll he ran for president showing Bachmann getting 60% to Palin’s 40%
Maybe MB is actually going for the VP slot since she has fouled her nest with the House Leadership? Maybe it is payback for her not getting that committee chairmanship?
Right you are. The problem is that Bachmann is falling for it.
I saw a poll today from MN, where potential voters overwhelmingly told Bachmann to kiss off any support for prez in that state.
I consider both Bachmann and Cain to be genuine ideological conservatives, but Palin is more of a populist than an ideological conservative. There are a whole host of reasons why I do not consider Palin a conservative, but her high profile support for the Law of the Sea Treaty is at the top of the list. In my book that is as much of a disqualifier as Romneycare.

Bannon went into great detail as to Sarah Palin’s unfailing strengths over 20 years. He laid out what a great CEO she is and what she accomplished at every step of the way, from Wasilla councilwoman to, and through her governorship.
The video opening was a bit disconcerting to me. Because of the guy who was all, Every fellow for his own, tooth and nail. Gulp. Grub. Gulp. Gobstuff” like the character in James Joyce’s Ulysses.
Washington Post Sally Quinn is lying or at least is deceiving; Palin never said that it was a “private” vacation, she invited her followers to come along with her and her family to enjoy American history with a national announcement. The media were the ones chasing down the family
I read a wonderful explanation of Sarah’s one-time support for the LOST, but since the issue is low on my radar screen, I forget the rationale now. Does it trouble you that Bachmann has hired a buffoon to say things about Sarah that SHE apparently does not have the courage to say.
BTW, I see Sarah as a Constitutionalist, not a populist. A populist takes a poll, then encourages people to think that he or she can deliver the objective. That’s never Sarah Palin. SHE does the leading, based upon what SHE thinks is sound principle, damn the polls. Thanks again, Bob
Hey it`s nice that MB has fostered children, but you are not supposed to trumpet that yourself!
I heard her say that about herself, and it did not sound very good. You are supposed to have people say that about you, you are not supposed to blow your own horn.
She annoys me, she has for some time.
Sally Quinn is a left wing slut btw, I know her very well!
