The first church I attended and got saved at (2005) baptized me in water and in the Spirit. When I was baptized in the Spirit, they stood around me with expectant looks on their faces as if I was supposed to immediately burst out with some gibberish.

The Pastor even asked me “Well. how do you feel?” I told him in perfect english that I felt just fine. They seemed disappointed.

About a year later we (mens group) had a frank discussion about the “Prayer Language.” These people would literally wander around the church sanctuary babbling a bunch of baby talk. I was not afraid to ask why they did that when they cannot understand themselves what it is they are babbling about.

The Pastors father-in-law was there and told me that it’s ok, God understands. When I asked if God understands prayers in english, the looks on their faces told me that it was probably not the church for me.
