Authorities say a former north Georgia youth minister has been sentenced in Oconee County Superior Court to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of child molestation, statutory rape and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports that former Winder youth pastor Brian Gray was given the prison term after pleading guilty to the charges Thursday.

Thursday's sentence in Oconee County is in addition to a 15-year prison term he was given earlier this month in Barrow County.

Any man who pretends to be a man of God and does such things deserves whatever punishment he gets and any church or religion that allows/looks the other way/etc. deserves all the bad national publicity it gets.

I don't know what religion you think you are a part of but I'm certain you are making Wormwood very happy.

The penalty for a ‘youth pastor, or any other, in cases like this should be death, period.

Churches and their congregations bear more than some responsibility in the selection of people for these positions. Granted, they cannot be held totally responsible for the actions of another, but they need to start taking MAXIMUM effort in backgrounding their potential candidates for the job. That would save a lot of kids from hell on earth.

FWIW, I was raised RC, but have since left since my beliefs are slightly different and so I cannot in good conscience call myself a good Catholic. The priest in our church when I grew up was a hard-ass, but he was no pedophile. The man who replaced him (old age) however, was.
