On the third day of the gathering, God freed Sukhra from the demon's grip, and Sukhra decided to follow Jesus!
For a moment there, I thought it said she was possessed by Matt Damon.
Face it. God just kicks serious a**. I love ‘im.
Huh? If it was unknown, why was she searching for deliverance?
Rent/watch ‘The Rite” (which came out in the theaters early this year) with Anthony Hopkins. I had no clue how the movie was made by hellywood but it was as pro-God as it gets, just like The Book of Eli. You have to get the devil’s name or else you cannot cast it out properly...and God kicks demon ass.
I suppose a demon is worse, but Matt Damon possessing you might literally bore you to death. And everyone would wonder why you started having spells of acting like a robot.
I don’t question that the demon was trying to possess her, but I’m not sure if that can be classified as an actual possession, as much as it is oppression.
“For a moment there, I thought it said she was possessed by Matt Damon.”
666 of one, half a 1332 of the other....
Spending all that time and money investing in magicians does not indicate that she thought that she was the victim of physical sickness. Contrary to idiotic American characterizations, Indian (I assume that it's Indian, there are no sources) medicine has developed to the point where many Americans are flying to India for major surgeries because they perform them at par with the US at a much lower cost.
Well, they were searching among magicians at first. Apparently they don't have any high caliber magicians there like Harry Potter, but a Christian was able to help. So, obviously, it dawned on them that it was a demon, and not a hex.
And if they happened to hang out with the Maori or the Bantu, what would they have thought then?
Indeed. But the point I was making was drawing a distinction between the knowledge of the [cause of the] problem and experiencing it.

I never said that they didn't have good medicine.
Demonic possession is REAL. I've seen it. I don't want to go into the specifics, because it involved someone very close to me. But, I can say I have looked a demon in the eye.
Fortunately, Christ is REAL too!
I didn’t see anything to indicate possession, in terms of loss of identity, spinning heads or floating in the air.
Just that she inexplicably felt like crap all the time.
That indidcates to me it wasn’t possession, but oppression.
You know, there is a bible verse where it mentions demons "trembling" in fear of Almighty God. You're right - God is SO POWERFUL and complete, that He puts fear into the terrible!
We don't always contemplate this, even Christians. To us, Christ is just "our buddy" and this "Mercy Mercy Mercy" guy all the time. Almost a "wimp" if we admitted it.
But..............He isn't. He is fierce. He is frightening to those He hates (and yes.....God hates). God has emotions, and He gave us His some of His emotions. One of those is anger. God has Righteous Anger. To get in His Way......is terrible. Frightening. Horrible.
Christ is a God of Mercy. But, when I think about the vermin, the demons, struggling to get out of His way....I have to smile.
And, how did they know it was around for 6 years?
Demon Crusher -
John 14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.
Yes, it is very real. In the USA it manifests more often as oppression or infestation, rather than outright possession.
Having looked into the empty eyes and heard the growling changes ones understanding of the very real spiritual war that we were born into.
And, yes, they hate the name of Jesus and His blood that was shed to save us.
>Not true. It’s not his name that cast him out - it’s the power of God - he has to get out when spoken by one who has the power and authority. <
I was just quoting from the movie LOL
She probably knew something was wrong, but not what and certainly not what to do about it.
It’s a fearsome thing to fall into the hands of an angry God.
Thank you Brother.
Demonic possession is REAL.
Christians who don't think so should really be examining what it is they believe.
Fortunately, Christ is REAL too!
We can't win this war without Him.
I knew you were quoting the movie and it reminded me of a book that was out years ago with that same teaching, you have to know the name first, and it’s wrong teaching - that’s all I wanted to address.
I haven't seen it, but just recognizing that Jesus Christ can get pretty darn tough when He wants to is great in my book!
I think the movie reference illustrates a great point how Christians can become easily confused about casting out demons. Any believer can do it. There is no secret formula.
“Huh? If it was unknown, why was she searching for deliverance?”
It’s not that hard to figure out, despite the indefinite antecedent. She was really messed up. She didn’t know it was demonic possession. She arduously searched for a way to get better. Nothing worked until Yahweh acted.
I think it DOES exist here, but is not recognized for what it is. I think often the supernatural is more openly active where it is more actively recognized. There are likely more overt examples of demonic worship in many of these countries as well — masquerading as native worship or the traditional faith of the country. Worship of demons definitely gets their attention.
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
No problem bro. Never witnessed an exorcist in real life but the main point of the movie is that you have to believe and have faith or the devil will win.
Love the T-Shirt. Right out of Genesis!
We are commanded to...
Matt 10:8 “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
Then why are we not raising the dead here?Giving sight to the blind here?Removing demons here?Other than the fakes on tv?Walk with me to a hospital and heal those within.Or is it here,,we have no faith?
Though a good movie, for a better, and more accurate, understanding of exorcisms I'd suggest getting/reading the book.
I think you’ve hit on it - at least to some extent. In my experience God works within the framework of one’s understanding (i.e. He meets them where they are.) Those in other countries have very real, palpable experiences with demonic powers. They truly NEED deliverance from them. Not every illness or physical ailment is demonic. God has said “It is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment.” Death is not optional. Barring His return first, all flesh will die. While physical healing is wonderful in and of itself (and miraculous healing DOES occur, but most often the physician or medicine gets the credit), the point in this story is that this girl was rid of a demon and came to Christ. It is eternal redemption which concerns God more. She could not come to Christ AND have a demon within her. One precludes the other.
Prayers up for her. Thank you Lord!
Not my church.
“Demonic possession is REAL. I’ve seen it.”
No doubt you have, one only need look in the mirror to see the “demon” in each and every one of us. “Demons” are proxies that Charismatic types use to attempt to affirm the underlying goodness of mankind - perverted only by “demons” - extrapolated into supposed actual entities, rather than the proxy for man’s wrong doing that “they” are.
There are no demons, yet there are demons within each and every one of us. As I said, look in the mirror, sometimes you’ll find a demon staring back at you.
Exorcisms are not restricted to the Roman-Catholic Church. Though probably more efficacious when performed by a RC priest, since it is, after all, God’s true Church. :^)
That is incorrect as well as not biblical, it’s simply misleading.
Sadly,,I think the real reason,is that people over there believe the Bible,,Take it at its word so to speak. While here we think its all just a nice story, not truly real.I see too many pastors saying its just a story,or only for those times, not for today. That it could be explained away by modern thinking, medicine,or science. We make far too many excuses for not believing.
