|John Taylor||Lds 'Prophet' #3||The Almighty has established this kingdom with order and laws and every thing pertaining thereto [so] that when the nations shall be convulsed, we may stand forth as saviours and finally redeem a ruined world, not only in a religious but in a political point of view. (Journal of Discourses, vol. 9, p. 342, April 13, 1862)|
|Orson Hyde||President of the Lds Quorum of the 12 Apostles for 28 years (1847-1875)||What the world calls Mormonism will rule every nation...God has decreed it, and his own right arm will accomplish it. This will make the heathen rage. (Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 53)|
|Heber J. Grant||Lds 'Prophet' #7||"Elder Marion G. Romney recalled the counsel of President Heber J. Grant: 'My boy, you always keep your eye on the President of the Church, and if he ever tells you to do anything, and it is wrong, and you do it, the Lord will bless you for it.' Then with a twinkle in his eye, he said, 'But you don't need to worry. The Lord will never let his mouthpiece lead the people astray'" (in Conference Report, Oct. 1960, p. 78)." |Harold B. Lee||Lds 'Prophet' #11||...President Harold B. It may contradict your political views. It may contradict your social views. It may interfere with some of your social life. |What about Marion G. Romney, cousin to Mitt's father?||Who was he in Lds hierarchy? (Title: 'President' - Top 3 of church as 2nd counselor to both #11 & #12 Lds 'prophets')||"Elder Neal A. Maxwell has said: 'Following the living prophets is something that must be done in all seasons and circumstances. We must be like President Marion G. Romney, who humbly said, '..I have never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional, and political life' (Conference Report, April 1941, p. 123). There are, or will be moments when prophetic declarations collide with our pride or our seeming personal interests...Do I believe in the living prophet even when he speaks on matters affecting me and my specialty directly? Or do I stop sustaining the prophet when his words fall in my territory? if the latter, the prophet is without honor in our country! (Things As They Really Are, p. 73). |Benson (cont'd)||Fundamental #5||5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time. (My Q: Ya hear that Mitt Romney? Ya hear that Jon Huntsman?)|
|Benson (cont'd)||Fundamental #9||9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual. (My Q: Still listening, Mitt? Still listening, Jon?)|
|Benson (cont'd)||Fundamental #10||10. The prophet may advise on civic matters. (My Q: What say ye Mitt? What say ye Jon?)|
|Mitt Romney as POTUS???||Aside from above prophetic impositions, why would Mitt not only honor what these 'prophets' have spoken, but what a future Lds 'prophet' may tell him to do?||The Law of Consecration Oath Mitt Romney has sworn in the Mormon temple (done before marriage/sealing in temple): "You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the law of consecration as contained in this, the book of Doctrine and Covenants [he displays the book], in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and EVERYTHING with which the Lord has blessed you, or WITH which he MAY bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion." Wow, what a story.
Here’s another...Moon isn’t made of cheese.
Most mainline Christian Denominations have issued statements stating that Mormonism is not Christian, because basic doctrines such as who God is and who Jesus is and the nature of salvation are too far away from traditional Christianity.
Mormonism tries to pass itself off as Christian, but the first thing you learn is that in Joseph Smith’s initial vision, all Christian denominations are an “abomination”.
So my question is: Did FoxNews say Romney isn't a Christian or did a host of an opinion/features shows make the comment?
The left makes a living intentionally blurring the lines between Fox's news division and its opinion side. It helps keep the outrage against Republicans and conservatives on the front burner. The truth is irrelevant.
They don’t tell you that right off of the bat these days. Now they just give you a Book of Mormon and tell you to pray about it. Lots of people who have been converted to Mormonism in recent years have no idea what their religion believes these days. This is why I am not entirely sure what to make of Beck’s religious beliefs. It’s possible he has relatively orthodox views, but simply doesn’t know what Mormons traditionally believe. However, I find that unlikely.
A True Christian puts his full faith on the Cross. This is the only requirment for being a Christian.
I fail to see what’s newsworthy about this.
Right........and Obama isn’t a Muslim.
How can someone belong to the Church of Jesus CHRIST of Latter -Day Saints and not be a CHRISTian?
The truth is...mormonism is not Christian. It is a polytheistic "god was a man, man may become a god over his own planet" cult.
I don’t see how this is controversial. Find a Christian denomination that considers the LDS a Christian church. You won’t find one that I know of. Even the Episcopalians don’t consider them a Christian church.
Deutsche Demokratische Republik ? (DDR/GDR)
Was it Democratic ? no
Was it a Republic ? no
Hmm..maybe some people name things to cover what they really are .
Calling them Christians is like calling the Norks (N. Koreans) democrats because their countrys official name is the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. (Scanian)
Belonging to ANY church doesn't make one a Christian - but it is nature of the One that faith is placed in. The mormon Jesus is not the same by definition as that worshipped by Christianity - their own prophet said so.
Brigham Young said that the “Christian God is the Mormon’s Devil and the Mormon’s Devil is the Christian God” (Journal of Discourses, Volume 5, page 331).
From the Mormon’s #2 guy, that pretty much says it all. It’s a lie right out of the pit of hell, no offense to Glen Beck.
Because what they call Christ is not Christ at all. They hold a number of views about the nature of Christ that differ greatly from what Christian churches hold as His nature (and agree upon among themselves). Their "Christ" is not Christ.
At our church, which is in the MCLS - Missouri Synod Lutheran Synod, the only two Baptisms they don’t recognize as valid - Mormon and Jehovah Witness. Pastor didn’t mention that Ron Hubbard cult, but I don’t know if they Baptize.
That’s because you’re not obsessed with Mormons. There’s a group of Freepers who are. I feel sorrow for Colofornian that he/she is so consumed by anger at my religion of choice that it occupies significant quantities of his/her time.
