This is the priest who took out a series of advertisements in the El Paso Times which criticized the homosexual lifestyle.
Makes me wonder where the real Catholic Church is. San Francisco?
This sounds a lot like the other post where the canadian Priest is banned from saying mass because he gave a sermon about abortion and homosexuals.
Catholics are either for or against these issues, they cannot ride the fence. Accept them and the Church will have a lot of parisioners dissappearing.
Another faithful and courageous priest persecuted from within and without the Church and chastised by heirarchy that bows to political correctness.
Priestly saints had the same problems.
Bishop Ochoa said the teaching of the Church on homosexuality must be taught in season and out, but clergy "cannot be involved in partisan efforts aimed at supporting or opposing candidates for political office and efforts to recall them."
This was the case: Rodriguez was participating in a recall effort against the mayor and two city council members. It's the political/electoral involvement,a nd not the moral teaching, which is in conflict with the vocation of a priest.
I mentioned that the priest and the bishop were in agreement on this. And they are. Rodriguez has pledged his cooperation with the bishop on this, and is accepting his new assignment without objection.
He won't, however, shut up on the moral issue, was not asked to shut up, and cannot be expected to shut up.
