Police questioning girl's bishop after alleged church groping [Did Lds bishop report groping?]
Provo Herald Extra ^ | Sept. 30, 2011 | Jim Dalrymple

PROVO -- Thirty-year-old Jose Luis Ortega approached a 13-year-old girl after an adolescent water fight at an LDS Church party in August. The girl had avoided getting wet, an arrest report states, but when Ortega got her alone he "soaked her shirt with a bucket of water." Before the girl could get away, Ortega grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to him, the report reveals. He wrapped his arms around her, "held her fast" and groped her.

According to the report, the girl told her LDS bishop about the abuse, but authorities didn't learn about the allegations until Ortega began stalking the girl. The report states that after the alleged abuse happened, Ortega began waiting outside the girl's school in his blue minivan, making "leering looks at her and motions with his head and eyes for her to come with him." A school counselor contacted police after the girl reported the apparent stalking.

During an interview with authorities, Ortega invoked his right to an attorney, but his wife reportedly said that he was at the party and had talked to his bishop about something afterward.

Provo police detective Brian Taylor said that officers are investigating the role the bishop had and how much information he received. According to Taylor, the bishop's attorney told police a somewhat different version of events, saying that the girl offered the bishop only a vague account that something had happened. When he asked her what, the attorney reportedly said, she did not offer more details. The bishop claims he consequently advised the girl to talk to her parents.

Taylor said police plan to interview the bishop and find a third party who can verify what happened. He explained that other people may have been around, and officers also will be interviewing the bishop.

Have Lds bishops covered up other sex abuse cases?

This seems to be an ongoing matter in the Mormon church:
* April, 2011: * Mormon Church Denies Prior Knowledge of Susan Brock Affair With Teen Boy, Which is a Lie
* March, 2011: Sacramento News & Review
* February, 2011: Father of The 5 Browns pleads guilty to sexually abusing his daughters
* December, 2010: Did fellow Mormons cover up officer's baby molestations?

Then there's the slew of multiple Oregon Boy Scout abusers, many of whom were Mormon and Lds leaders were warned about them:
* Boy Scouts sex files now evidence in Oregon lawsuit
* Scout officials, Mormon leaders were warned of abuser, suit says
* Men sue Mormon Church, Boy Scouts in abuse case

* And the most recent article: Child sex abuse claims mount against Boy Scouts

And Mormon Boy Scout abusers, of course, were in other states as well, leaving additional Qs as to how much Mormon leaders knew when:
* Former Oxnard man alleges sex abuse, sues Boy Scouts, Mormon church
* Former Oxnard man alleges sex abuse, sues Boy Scouts, Mormon church

And the Mormon sex-abusers' list goes on and on and on:
* Ex-LDS Seminary principal gets 5-to-life for abusing student
* Brock Police Report: Removal of "Temple Garments," a Meeting With LDS Officials
* Brock pleads guilty (Woman and daughter both have sex with underage male-Phoenix)
* Heber charity founder Lon Kennard Sr. charged with years of sexual abuse
* Family apologizes after sexual abuse arrest
* Ex-BLM Manager charged with sex abuse commits suicide
* Woman who had sex with therapist sues LDS Family Services for negligence
* Fake [LDS] marriage therapist arrested for sex abuse [this is a separate abuse story involving another lds therapist than the fake Lds therapist story listed right before this one]
* Ex-BYU student pleads guilty in attack on woman he was assigned to home teach
* 2 Mormon missionaries jailed 17 years for defilement
* Teen not getting new trial in attempted rape case
* Man jailed for indecent exposure [22 yo BYU-Idaho student]

Unfortunately, lds bishops don’t as policy. They claim the ‘religious leaders don’t have to’ defense. Personal, when any person of authority claims the ‘we don’t have to’ I find it offense, no matter who does it.

He was right, if he told her to tell her parents about it but I believe he had an obligation too.

I’m no bishop but if any 13 year old told me about something like that, I would make sure her parents and police know about it.

By the way, I’m around a lot of kids that age spending the night or week end with my grands, there are two of them here right now, one boy and one girl. The girls are inclined to be affectionate but I’m very careful passing out hugs, there is always some other adult around.

A code of silence is very common in Mormonism. You are not to question what your ‘priesthood leaders’ tell you - divorce, abuse, molestation are all either encouraged or covered up, usually to protect other ‘priesthood leaders’.

I know women who didn’t report rapes to the police because the perp was another man in the ward and the bishop told them not to. At least one was threatened with excommunication.

In the first ward I was in, there was a serial rapist, an older man who had mental issues. Instead of reporting him, the stake president just moved him from one congregation to another. Members of the congregation were not warned. I only discovered it because his psychologist (also LDS) was a man I worked for and he broke patient confidentiality in order to warn me.

Fortunately, more of these accusations are coming to light and I pray that they will star behaving in a proper manner regarding perps in their midst.

wait, for a second I thought the () after the headline was sugesting the girl groped the bishop.

heh

It was weird.

I notice the MSM doesn’t make a big deal when the high priests of public education do the same thing much more often.

Colofornian .... How’s my favorite purveyor of bigoted religious ideas? (notice I didn’t call you a religious biggot)

Question. Does your view of your doctrine of once saved=always saved extend to the vast parade of outed Christian Evangalists perverts? If so .... do you think Christ would agree, or would he have called them hypocrites?

FYI, My guess is that he would say “depart from me, ye that work eniquity”.

Why do you assume I believe in once saved, always saved? (I don't)

If I did, then Lucifer would have never become Satan, now, would he have?

[Once again, Teppe, you're wrong...and for once for making off-base assumptions, why don't you consider apologizing]

Oh and thanks for showing, once again, that the LDS have no idea of what “once saved always saved” doctrine really is.

FYI, My guess is that he would say “depart from me, ye that work eniquity”.

And I think that you guess it just right.

Does your doctrine permit you to think the same way about others in positions of authority??

Joe: Hey Emma!   Guess what!?

Emma: You KNOW I hate these guessing games! What is it, Dear?

Joe: I heard a voice, probably the Lord, tell me I must take other wives.

Emma: WHAT!?   You ding bat!  Don't you KNOW what our precious BOOK says?   After all; YOU are the one that translated it!

Joe: Books; schmooks.   All I know is I've been COMMANDED to take other wives and you are to OBEY ME!!!

Emma:      "Though shalt NOT commit ADULTERY!!!"

Joe: Silly Woman!  You KNOW better than to take things out of CONTEXT!!!

...and the rest is HISTORY...

THE BOOK OF JACOB
THE BROTHER OF NEPHI
CHAPTER 2

24 Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord.
25 Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph.
26 Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.
  27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;
28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.
29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes.
30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things.
31 For behold, I, the Lord, have seen the sorrow, and heard the mourning of the daughters of my people in the land of Jerusalem, yea, and in all the lands of my people, because of the wickedness and abominations of their husbands.
32 And I will not suffer, saith the Lord of Hosts, that the cries of the fair daughters of this people, which I have led out of the land of Jerusalem, shall come up unto me against the men of my people, saith the Lord of Hosts.

Or even HERE:

 1 Timothy 3:2-3
 2.  Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
 3.  not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

1 Timothy 3:12
A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well.

 Titus 1:6
An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

Emma: That's IT!   I'm LEAVING your sorry *!!!

Joe:  DARN you Emma; you were TOLD to accept this!!   Wait!!!   I hear a voice again!!!

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 132

51–57, Emma Smith is counseled (commanded) to be faithful and true; 58–66, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.

51 Verily, I say unto you: A commandment I give unto mine handmaid, Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.
52 And let mine handmaid, Emma Smith, areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.
53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.
54 And I command mine handmaid, Emma Smith, to abide and acleave unto my servant Joseph, and to none else. But if she will not abide this commandment she shall be bdestroyed, saith the Lord; for I am the Lord thy God, and will destroy her if she abide not in my law.
55 But if she will not abide this commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of beternal lives in the eternal worlds.
56 And again, verily I say, let mine handmaid aforgive my servant Joseph his trespasses; and then shall she be forgiven her trespasses, wherein she has trespassed against me; and I, the Lord thy God, will bless her, and multiply her, and make her heart to brejoice.

Ignorance of Christianity permeates your postings. No wonder you are still LDS.
