Catholic fundamentalists have been gathering outside a Parisian theatre, at one point barging in, to protest against a play featuring the face of Christ allegedly covered with fake excrement.
Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia have been hot topics in French society over the years, but these days, its anti-Christian sentiment thats making front-page news.
For the past week, throngs of Catholic fundamentalists have been brandishing crosses, chanting in Latin, and dropping to their knees in prayer outside a popular Parisian theatre to protest against a play featuring the face of Christ allegedly covered with fake excrement.
The work in question, Italian Romeo Castelluccis On the Concept of the Face, Regarding the Son of God, is about an incontinent man being cared for by his son, and has been showing at the Theatre de la Ville (near the Notre Dame Cathedral).
Outraged by what they consider blasphemy and Christianophobia, over a thousand protesters (and up to 5,000, according to protest organisers) gathered on Saturday in front of the theatre, hurling eggs and oil at the building and theatre-goers entering it. Two days earlier, police arrested 20 people for breaking into a performance of the play and planting stink bombs.
Protests backed by far-right movements
The protests are supported by far-right fringe party Renouveau français (which translates into French renewal), which defines itself as nationalistic and Catholic, has a history of anti-gay activism, and has been known to draw young, well-off militants to its cause. The campaign against Castelluccis play has also been endorsed by Bruno Gollnisch, a prominent member of Frances main far-right party, the National Front.

I doubt seriously if this same website has ever described the mohammedan protests — much less their actual abundant crimes such as full our riots lit up by burning cars, rapes, and “honor” killings — with such breathless anxiety. Oh, the horror of Christians offended by the disgusting display of blasphemy.
Is this alleged playwright yet working on a play that ridicules mohamhead?
France 24 is an International TV News TV channel which is carried on satellite and the web.
I see the next cause célèbre is:
“After On the Concept of the Face, Regarding the Son of God finishes its run, protesters are expected to turn their attention to another play: Rodrigo Garcias Golgota Picnic, in which Christ is compared to a terrorist and is covered in bills of money at the scene of his crucifixion, kicks off on December 8 at the Theatre du Rond-Point.”
The French culture ministry said Saturday that charges will be brought against members of Institut Civitas, a Christian fundamentalist group, who disrupted a performance of a play with a Christian theme at the Theatre de la Ville on Thursday.
That's entertainment? Sheesh.
This is the legacy of the French Revolution. Christianity is associated with corrupt pre-revolutionary France.
As the Catholic Church in Spain was too closely associated with the Franco regime and thus Spain was lost to Catholicism, just as Ireland has been more recently.

The monarchy of pre-revolutionary France was far less corrupt than anything that came after.
Franco was one of the most successful and beneficial leaders of the Twentieth Century. Spain is now being conquered by the evil powers that Franco held in check.
The protesters are traditionalist Catholics. The bishops of France are liberals.
Brings to mind a line from an opera by Mozart, IIRC:
Et satan conduit le bal
(And satan calls/conducts the dance.)
“....protest against a play featuring the face of Christ allegedly covered with fake excrement.”
“Far right” = the shred of sanity left in downwardly spiraling Western Civilization.
Demarcation is in play the seperation of the wheat from the tares.
Just look at Occupy Wall street, flash mobs, home invasion,
and more to come....
but we all need to watch out for those churches /sar
