My wife and I are active pro-lifers who have given to Priests for Life in the past. We were constantly bombarded with emotional and urgent requests for more money. You know the saying, “If everything is urgent, nothing is.” While I can’t remember the exact wording, some gave me the impression that Priest for Life was spending money before they got it.
I concur with you that Father Pavone has act correctly once he was recalled to the diocese. I further concur that the Bishop appears to have behaved badly. Indeed it appears to me the Bishop needs to have a period of prayer and reflection. I also hope Father Pavone remains in the diocese and ministers to a congregation.
One sure thing that stands out in Father Pavone’s favor is his complete and utter compliance with the near banishment imposed by Bishop Zurek. I am curious what progress, if any, is being made on behalf of Father Pavone by the cannon lawyer. Information, like Father Pavone himself, seems to be relegated to a very dark hole for the time being, as in a black out.
The lack of resolution, or justice triumphing in either case, does over time lead to an air of scandal, given the Trojan efforts of PFL. It is very hard for the laity to be left hanging on innuendo and imprecise financial issues.
