“If your right hand causes you to sin cut it off”! What did Jesus mean? Here is what Beinsa Douno
Beinsa Douno

“If your right hand causes you to sin cut it off”! < Mark 9:43 >> What did Jesus meant? Here is the answer Beinsa Douno gives:

"Can our hand lead us into temptation? - Yes, it is possible. Every material thing, power or body that we possess can lead us into temptation...." According to Beinsa Douno - The hand is an expression/symbol of the reasonable/intelligent in man..... "If your right hand causes you to sin." If your unreasonable life leads you into temptations and gives one twisted/wrong understanding, one twisted/wrong theory, through which (which causes) your mind, your heart, and your will to enter in delusion, throw out that theory, it is of no use for you...... Every temptation is a great stumbling block in the right development of the human mind and heart. BD.

That is pretty much the concept in what Christ meant according to Beinsa Douno in the lecture he gave: "If your right hand causes you to sin cut it off....."

I know a fire storm is coming. Some will argue that Jesus didn't use symbolic language here, that people should be cutting off their hands and legs if they lead them into temptation so they can go to Heaven. (They will find some support from Sharia muslims). Others will look for something else to argue upon. Others may find that the interpretation Beinsa Douno gives is the right one. What is your thought on the subject?

Matthew 18:9
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

doesn’t seem symbolic....

The language Yah’shua uses comes right out of Rabbinic teaching he had. It is completely symbolic. Yah’shua was talking about oral religious dogma that has no foundation in Torah. Man made religious doctrine that oppresses others in order to make them succumb to their religious dogma. Specifically at that time, Yah’shua was talking about the Talmud(Jewish oral law), but today it also pertains to religious laws, ordinances and traditions put in place by Christendom that have taken away from Torah & also those that have added additional ordinances via replacement of HIS Holy appointed times such as the Sabbath and HIS yearly convocations with their own that are based on the pagan religious calendar.

Christ routinely used hyperboly to make His point. He simply meant to not hold on to anything that is causing you to not live the full Christian life.

Whether it be your job or home or relationships, if it’s causing you to compromise your Christian experience, get rid of it.

Seems symbolic to me. If your seeing something (your eye) cause you to sin (lust is what I think of as that fits me) - I would need to pluck out BOTH my eyes. I imagine Jesus would have understood that I can gaze on a good-looking gal with one eye just as well as two eyes.

In the Catholic Act of Contrition, we say, “I firmly resolve, with the help of thy grace, to sin no more, AND TO AVOID THE NEAR OCCASION OF SIN.” Sounds like the same thing.

It's completely symbolic if one takes it in the context it was said

Mark 9:14 When they got back to the talmidim, they saw a large crowd around them and some Torah-teachers arguing with them... 19 “People without any trust!” he responded. “How long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you?... 42 “Whoever ensnares one of these little ones who trust me — it would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and be thrown in the sea. 43 If your hand makes you sin, cut it off! Better that you should be maimed but obtain eternal life, rather than keep both hands and go to Gei-Hinnom, to unquenchable fire!... 47 And if your eye makes you sin, pluck it out! Better that you should be one-eyed but enter the Kingdom of God, rather than keep both eyes and be thrown into Gei-Hinnom... 50 Salt is excellent, but if it loses its saltiness, how will you season it? So have salt in yourselves”

In context the people were arguing over religious doctrine as well as who is more righteous, higher on the totem pole so to speak. Yah'shua reminded them that there is only one doctrine, so have prudence and work to preserve what He is teaching, which is his Father's Torah, rather than bickering amongst themselves. If we keep HIS Torah pure and full of flavor, then we ourselves are full of flavor in HIS eyes.

I think it’s important that none of the Apostles incorporated this literal teaching into their letters, nor were early Christians walking around missing eyes and hands.

Jesus’ point was how holy the Father is, and how sinful we truly are. Gouging out eyes and cutting off hands only prevents further sin in that particular area - it cannot atone for sin. When one understands that God judges even our thoughts and motives, there would be nothing left of us if this were literal.

Getting serious about sin and mortifying it from the body is what God desires from everyone, but especially from those who believe in His Son.

Ok newbie, your Right hand is your hand of focus. Why would you cut it off? Jesus never meant such. I think He meant quit screwing around and come to Him.

That is to you.

Let me ask you a question. If you are going to Heaven, what are you planing to take with you? Meaning do you think people with these physical bodies go up there? Or down there in hell?
Did you assume you will be going to Heaven with your physical body? .......... These physical bodies have purpose only on Earth. So you need for your needs while on earth every part of your body. But you don't need
those desires (like more and more money ... etc.) that will lead you to hell.

Just reason a bit.

Jesus was making a point about how fathomlessly horrible hell is. Nothing in this world is worth going there, not even your eyes or hands. If plucking out your eye would help you to repent then yes it would be wise to do it rather then go into eternity unrepentant.

He also talked about people even becoming eunuchs for the Kingdom of God's sake. Time on earth is extremely fleeting and no suffering here can even begin to compare to the suffering of ending up in hell for all of eternity.

Mat 19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from [their] mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive [it], let him receive [it].

“doesn’t seem symbolic....”

Of course it is...the point is that our soul is worth much more than our physical being...and that temptation of any kind is evil at work and we should strive to push temptation away. None of us are perfect...God knows this.

I glued my eyes to the wall, laughed my head off, flew out the door, cried my eyes out and cut off my nose to spite my face. Literal or symbolic?

Absolutely right. The bible teaches throughout that sin comes from the heart. Thus, cutting off physical members won't stop sin. In fact Jesus said it was a sin even to have sinful thoughts. Should people also cut out their brains? One thing the passage does establish without question: The horrible reality that hell does exist.

Beinsa Douno

Is a false teacher in regards to anything he claims Jesus said or taught. In the passage cited, Jesus is using hyperbolic language to warning his followers about the the agents of sinful activities. Beinsa has no clue regarding the context of the passage. It does NOT involve the expression/symbol of the reasonable/intelligent in man (clearly he forgot to define the foot and eye as well)

Further, Beinsa and his Great White Brotherhood associates practice the biblically prohibited 'channeling' to so-called ascended masters and other seance related meetings.

The "Great White Brotherhood" is also associated with numerous other destructive cults such as Clair Prophet's cult, Ramtha, Saint Germain, and Maitreya followers.

I say he is a true master. There are tons of proof. Anyway, you know nothing about what he teaches and I don’t really care what lies you or others say about him.

I know what he preaches and it is: Love, brotherhood, and sisterhood.

I say he is a true master.

Yes, a master of deception and disciple of THE master deceiver.

Anyway, you know nothing about what he teaches and I don’t really care what lies you or others say about him.

Oh really - show me the lies I've said about him then lwt. From the website:

http://www.american-buddha.com/greatwhitebrotherhood.htm

it states specifically and clearly -

"The term Great White Brotherhood or White Brotherhood as frequently found in older occult literature is thought by its followers to be a collegiate body of enlightened spiritual beings, once mortals, who continue to take an interest in the spiritual development of the human race. The Ascended Masters are believed by some to form such a college.
The Great White Brotherhood is the name given in metaphysical/occult circles to those adepts of wisdom who have finished their earthly pilgrimages (the cycles of reincarnation and karma) and, while ascending to a higher state of existence as masters of space, time and material existence, have assumed responsibility for the cosmic destiny of the human race, both individually and collectively. Most occult groups assign a high level of importance to the Brotherhood, but some make interaction with the Ascended Masters of the Brotherhood a major focus of their existence.

Further associated are Nicholas Roerich and his wife, Helena Roerich, inspired by the Theosophical writings of H.P. Blavatsky published the "Agni Yoga" series of books, with contents inspired by the Mahatmas, or Masters of the Great White Brotherhood from their stronghold in the Himalayas Shambhala.

If you are aware of your master's history, he has links to the Theosophical Society and its practioners and Rudolf Steiner, identified Master Beinsa Douno as manifestation of the Bodhisattva Maitreya. New age occultism oozes from every pore of his teachings.

I know what he preaches and it is: Love, brotherhood, and sisterhood.

A statement as obtuse as any from a cult that has been represented here in FR. Scratching deeper we can see that is not what he really teaches -

The sense of human life on earth is to realize, throughout multiple reincarnations, a higher reason, to acquire liberation from the limitations of the lower forms of existence. Man has to liberate himself gradually from his animal instincts and this must be done not by destroying them but by submitting them to the higher life. He has to create his higher bodies, to reveal himself for the supreme Divine conscience and for the supreme love and to become a more perfect organ in the Divine system. Everyone has to liberate himself from his low egoism and limited conscience and has to begin living in a greater harmony with the Divine entity. The more completely he reveals himself throughout this entity, the greater is his harmony with the reasonable nature, with God.

Reincarnation and the rest of the occultic new age agenda.
