Forgiveness is everyones job.
Amazingly enough, forgiveness is necessary, not for the one being forgiven, but the the one forgiving. It removes the poison of hate, grudge, malice from the forgivers heart.
Notice, nothing is said that there should be no consequences for actions. Fuchida dealt with conequences of his actions for the remainder of His life, I am sure. Yet, he was forgiven by the Lord.
Jesus said that someone who will not forgive will not be forgiven.
Prayers FRiend, for your heart.
You cannot compare a Naval Officer carrying out the lawful orders of his superiors to attack a legitimate military target to a terrorist fanatic hijacking a civilian aircraft and using it on a suicide mission.
Atta’s attack was a war crime, the wanton targeting and killing of civilians. Fuchida led an attack on legitimate Naval and Military targets.
Fuchida was not responsible for the decision to go to war. And not responsible for the delay in getting the defacto declaration of war to the US Secretary of Sate. He just did his job.
This is where that whole “let he who is without sin” part comes in.
As for Atta, that is another matter...
