Schools belong to taxpaying parents.

The “Public School” system is better understood as Marx’s “School Collective”, after which it was fashioned.
Get your kids out of them as quickly as possible.
Educate them in the private school of your choice, or home school them, or form your own school cooperative with like minded neighbors and relatives.
There is a world of difference between a Cooperative and a Collective.
It is inconsistent to submit your children to the authority of those with whom you fundamentally disagree. Your children might interpret it as hypocrisy.
“Schools belong to taxpaying parents.”
AND taxpaying NON parents
The government schools don’t “belong” to taxpayers any more than the military does.
The real owners of everything governmental is whomever makes the decisions that are carried out by governmental institutions.
Those people “ain’t us”, and can’t be. The only solution is to eliminate almost all of the existing governmental institutions and to keep an electoral knife to the throats of those who control the remaining institutions.
You are completely right that children need to be removed from govenment schools - but bear in mind that charters are government schools, too. The union influence may be less, but the curriculum, “values”, social policies, and the indoctrination the teachers have gone through are the same.
No, that mentality is why we have such a lousy government right now. Get off the couch and make some changes. Run for school board. Attend school board meetings and speak up. Write to the newspaper. Get a PTO going. Volunteer and get involved with the schools. Get a job with the district at the admin level or on a campus. It's too easy to sit home and complain.
The superintendent and elementary and HS principals hated my guts. Ha, too bad. If I heard of some stupid new rule, they'd have a change of heart by 8 o'clock the next morning. Hey, a few well placed phone calls can move moutains at warp speed (fyi, changing a legislator's mind takes longer, about 2 weeks).
Important to watch and share:
You go your way.
I’ll go mine.
It’s bad enough already that I have to pay for your way, even though I refuse to use it. That’s one of the differences between a collective and a cooperative.
I’m not sitting at home and complaining. I’m educating my own kids. I’m a professional engineer, but we also have many resources from which to draw, including other home schoolers and an almost infinite selection of on-line learning tools, as well as our well-endowed personal library.
My wife and I teach our nine kids *OUR* values. Good luck getting any kind of conservative values taught in the government school collective. You will fight and fight and fight and fight, with the teachers, with the school admin, with your neighbors, with the press, and you’ll lose your kids to the government collective mindset in the end.
Kids that come out of that system with the proper perspectives in life, do so in SPITE of the system, NOT because of it.
What I hate is having people compel me by threat of force to pay for their grandiose socialist experiments. Even worse, is when they force me to participate in them against my will.
I don’t care what you do.
Why must you compel me by threat of force to do the same as you, or to pay for you to do it?
