The only dying part of American religion are the ultra liberal old mainline confessional denominations: ECA, PCUSA, ELCA and the largest Methodist group. Their congregations are dying off and no significant numbers of the young are replacing them. Independent congregations, Pentacostals, Baptists and even the Catholic denomination are increasing and quite healthy thank you very much. Since the cloistered elitists, to the extent they profess to be Christian at all, are in these mainline dying denominations they think all Churches are doing as poorly as theirs are. Bible preaching/believing non-denominational churches are thriving.

Unfortunately so are churches that preach prosperity gospel (like Joel Olsteen), but those lost souls are seeking things of this world and not heavenly treasures.
