Give Me Your Money in the Name of Jesus

This morning, in the middle of his campaign National Prayer Breakfast speech, President Obama delighted those of us who love irony by quoting C.S. Lewis. It was an interesting moment in a speech that put forth the notion that taxing the wealthy is right in line with the teachings of Jesus. I mean, Jesus did hang out with tax collectors, right? The idea that government welfare is somehow the fulfillment of Jesus’ teaching on charity is a common misconception that many people make, Christians included, and it’s the main reason that liberals believe conservatives are Christian hypocrites. Perhaps if the president visited church more often than only during campaign seasons, he might not be so confused. See, not only do we spend time praising God in church, we also gain insight from our pastors who have surely spent more time in the word of God than we have.

While Obama may have been correct in saying that government mandated, shared responsibility is equal to the Islamic belief that those who’ve been blessed have an obligation to use those blessings to help others, he is incorrect to group in Jesus’ teaching, “for unto whom much is given, much shall be required.” Aside from the fact that Jesus was discussing requirements from God, not the government, he was actually teaching his disciples that they were stewards of God’s gift of Revelation. Their requirement was to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s the crux of Christianity that Obama seems to miss. Jesus came because we are imperfect. We could never fulfill all the requirements that the pharisees loved to lord over the people. Jesus’ coming ended the rule of law and the began the acceptance that our only way to God was through Him. Yes, Jesus very much emphasized the importance of giving to the poor, but as a reaction in joy to what we’ve been given; not because of a law. Giving out of obligation is not truly giving, it’s merely following the rules. Just ask anyone who’s ever written a check to pay their taxes, I doubt you’d find them excited.

The Bible also teaches that everything we have, including money, belongs to God. We are called to be good stewards with His money. The government is the epitome of mismanaging money. If you truly want to help the poor, you should probably seek out charities; but that would require a bit of work on the part of the giver and a great many find it easier to just let the government run every aspect of their lives. So it is that welfare money ends up spitting out of strip club ATMs, and those same people who paid their charity to the government wonder why government hasn’t solved the issue. Perhaps they should ask the 27 Democrats who voted against stopping welfare checks from being used at strip clubs, casinos and liquor stores.

Another highlight in Obama’s speech was his proud proclamation that his administration has partnered with Catholic charities to help those in poverty. I wonder if those charities are among the ones begging the Obama administration, to no avail, to change the recent ObamaCare edict requiring them to cover birth control costs in their healthcare even though it is against their religious beliefs to do so. Really, slapping them across the face would take less time and probably hurt less.

I also really enjoyed when the president mentioned the half a million Americans who exercised their religious freedom to March for Life recently. Oh wait, he didn’t mention that.

Overall, the president’s National Prayer Breakfast speech was much of what we have become quite familiar with hearing, but sprinkled with some Bible quotes that ultimately fail to give credibility to Obama’s socialist leanings. Thankfully, President Obama did get it right in the end – God will continue to lead our nation, even after those that wish to tax us all into poverty use His word to do so.

Why is Bishop Willard Mitt Romney not using his title? What is he trying to hide? Do we want the elder of any faith to serve as President? Would we want a Catholic, Anglican, Methodist Bishop serving as president? Is it even constitutional? We need to have this conversation now!

“Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s...”

Yes, but don’t give Caesar more than he is due, and Obama will take everything, if we allow it. When I look at the faces on our money, I see the founders, Abe, and great Americans, but not Obama’s, so it isn’t his money that he is stealing from us. It is our money. ...Just saying.

Adolf Hitler: “As a Christian, I Feel that My Lord and Savior was a Fighter

My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God’s truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. ...Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross. ...”

Pulling a single verse completely out of context to justify socialism seems to be a trend among liberals today. The phrase “to whom much is given, much shall be required” was probably chosen because it sounds similar to “From each according to their ability, to each according to their need”. What’s missing, however, is the context. One is God, the other is the state. Democrats would replace God with the state completely if they could.

Hitler was an atheist, vegetarian, nudist and probably a homosexual.
This alleged statement is not supported by history, except by anti-Semitics and atheists.
So I am unsure, are you trying to say Hitler was a demon, or that you support his statement.

You'd be surprised: "Seventy percent said the only time they spend studying the Word is when they are preparing their sermons."

His fight..and our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

We are called to stand and resist the devil..I have not found anywhere in the Bible where a Christian is called to fight any person...we are even called to love those who persecute us. He gave us weapons...most of them for defense...with the exception of the WORD of God...his sword...our sword..the only offensive weapon in our arsenal.

When he said on the cross...”it is finished”..it meant that he completed the task...we have no need to fight..we just have to stand on the victory that is already won. When Jesus was tempted by the devil...he used only one weapon against him..the TRUTH of God’s word. Jesus is our example.

Jesus did not fight the Jews on Calvary..he defeated DEATH so that the doors of heaven could opened back up for fallen man. He did however expose the hearts of unscrupulous men and used the Word of God to bring truth into the situation. He never struck anyone in violence....He came for the Pharisees and the tax collectors alike. He shed his blood on the cross for our sin..YOUR sin as well. Not only because the Jews were selling stuff in the temple.

That paragraph was a quote from Hitler, not me. Hitler was speaking of Jesus as obama speaks of Jesus, to justify his ideas.

Hitler = evil.

This WICKED, GODLESS, EVIL man has a half brother living in a cardboard hut on $12 a month; Obamessiah’s wife spends 50 THOUSAND DOLLARS on sexy underwear in a day, they have spent HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS ON LAVISH VACATIONS AND SPENDING SPREES and he hasn’t given his brother a penny to aid his suffering! It is nothing short of hypocrisy for him to talk about “caring for the poor” and blasphemy for him to say what he is saying about the Lord Jesus Christ, the so-called “rich” and taxes!
