Doug Kmiec Writes Obama: 'Friendship Will Not Permit Me to Disregard Duty to Faith and Country'

Doug Kmiec convinced many Catholics to elect President Barack Obama and received an ambassadorship to Malta. He also became a lightning rod in the Catholic community and beyond. I have not heard from him since he resigned his ambassadorship. That is until last weekend. His letter to the President is worthy of note.

WASHINGTON,DC (Catholic Online) - During the last US Presidential campaign, one name stood out among those Catholics who supported the candidacy of then Senator, now President, Barack Obama; Doug Kmiec.

A constitutional lawyer, Doug was known as a defender of the fundamental Human Right to Life. A former Dean of Catholic University's Law School, Doug was also heralded as a defender of the first freedom of religious freedom. He went on to hold the prestigious Caruso Family Chair in Human Rights at Pepperdine University.

Yet, that same Doug Kmiec became an outspoken supporter of the candidacy of Barack Obama. He did much more; he became the leading "apologist" of sorts, attempting to convince other Catholics to support the candidate. He did so in the face of candidate Obama's expressed opposition to defending the Rights of our first neighbors in the womb.

Doug wrote a book entitled "Can a Catholic Support Him?" In the afterward of the book he wrote: "Barack Obama has my vote. Your only duty is to cast your own in good conscience. As a Catholic and as an American, you may do so in perfect freedom. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise".

Make no mistake; that was a moral claim. It used phrases like "good conscience" and "perfect freedom", which speak to the morality of human action and the acting person. However, consciences are "good" when they are properly formed in the truth which then leads the person to do what is good. Freedom "perfects" a.......

Tell it to the Lord Douglas.

As will Sebelius, Pelosi, Biden and those who enabled Obama.

May the Lord have mercy on their souls.

The Mendacity Of Hopium.

Kmiec's letter will be thoroughly enjoyed, and then used to light the candle used in their Satanic Worship Service.

Doug Kmiec is the preeminent example of failed conservative leadership. He is seen as an icon. He is not. He, much like Peggy Noonan and Buckley’s son, are nothing more than corporate politicians who are able to ingratiate themselves with the right people.

Kmiec’s idea that Obama will cure the causes that cause abortion tells you immediately that he is a liberal in that he thinks that abortion is caused by some socio-economic inequality and not by a moral/cultural defect. He forgets that rich people have abortions too.

It is amazing to me that the conservative media and conservative institutions consider people like him credible.

I’m curious what happened to sister Carol Keehan. The Catholic Health Association (CHA) President that supported Obamacare.

To him and the fine, upstanding folks at Notre Dame U., all I can say is are you happy with your historic vote, and secondly, how could you have been so terminally stupid? This guy knew obama’s history re: abortion and killing children already born, but for the usual 30 pieces of ambassadorial silver...

Have you noticed the silence from Bart Stupak?

You mean like all those other useful idiots who profess their loyalty to satan:
Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Bart Stupak, Ted Kennedy, Christopher Dodd, Kathleen Sebelius, Father Pfleger, Barbara Mikulski, Tom Harkin, Debbie Stabenow, Patty Murray, John Kerry, Dennis Kucinich, Kirsten Gillibrand, Gov. Cuomo, Gov. Jerry Brown, Claire McCaskill, and all the Notre Dame faculty, board, and staff members who gave the useless idiot in the White House a platform to spew his vile and evil policies across the beautiful plains of America.

He’s worse. Kmiec has for years been an “academic” claiming to oppose abortion. No one expected him to sell his soul for an ambassadorship to Malta.

Time for you to respond to the question: How does any thinking person who claims to support life at conception, claims homosexuality is an abomination, claim that oppressive radical socialistic dictatorships are evil even vote for this character to begin with? Yet most of the Roman Catholic world fell for him hook, line and stinker, just like the author. The same unthinking acceptance prevails with regard to the Roman cult pratices.

Any thinking person should have been able to recognize the radical socialistic, homophiliac, baby killing mindset of this man long before casting his first vote.

They didn't have to look any further than his vote in the Illinois State Senate where he agreed to leave babies who survived an abortion on the cutting room floor without assistance. Pure evil. That vote should be on display this election cycle.

Excellent point. How did people prefer this monstrous Democrat over even McCain? At least Sarah would have fought for the babies, but the Catholics lined up for Obama. Now, they say, maybe we should reconsider. Maybe?

To paraphrase martyr St. Thomas More in A Man for All Seasons:

Why Doug, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world... but for Malta?

I was wondering what this Kimec guy would be saying about now. I remember his writings well in support of Obama. And in support of GUN CONTROL. Now he looks foolish. Oh well he is.

Still waiting for your reasoned response... "Time for you to respond to the question: How does any thinking person who claims to support life at conception, claims homosexuality is an abomination, claims that oppressive radical socialistic dictatorships are evil, even vote for this character to begin with? Yet most of the Roman Catholic world fell for him (OBO) hook, line and stinker, just like the author (of the original article). The same unthinking acceptance prevails with regard to the Roman cult pratices."

You want me to perform "penance"? For pointing out what millions of your sheeple brethren have done to all of us? You are talking to the wrong guy...go to the elaborate temples of darkness called Catholic Churches and scream your call to penance there.

No wonder the Catholic constituents are easily lead astray by the foul doctrines of Rome.

Is that irony, or a logical lapse? It's the "foul doctrines of Rome" that Kmiec was contravening by supporting an abortion promoter. You want unanimity in perfection by all the followers of the Catholic Church? Well, so do I, but as the Church has taught for 2000 or so years, man is imperfect—that would be Protestants, Catholics, Jews, and the rest—and is only perfected through Christ's sacrifice.

You should be grateful, rather than bitter, that Catholics have millennia of philosophy, theology, and teaching that accurately describe reality, even when individual men are too twisted to follow it.
