Santorum in Lee's Summit, Mo: "The Bishops Got What They Deserved" [Video]
YouTube ^ | 2/4/12

Posted on 02/08/2012 8:15:34 AM PST by marshmallow

They may be outraged now, but the American Catholic Church has been forging alliances with the secular state on social issues for too many years. Now, the Bishops who promoted and shilled for ObamaCare look like schmucks.

Excerpt:

"They got what they deserved", he said. "They fell into bed with the secular left, and then wondered why they force them to do what the secular left wants them to do."

I couldn’t be happier with the success of Rick yesterday.

He’s not perfect, but I am excited to see one who is faithful to Catholic teachings get this far.

He’s exactly right.

We, the laity need to support the people and bishops speaking out to fight this mandate, whether they have come late to the realization or not that Obama is bad for this country.

The bishops need to know we back them, we already know that some of them don’t have the courage to do what’s right, without being prodded by those of us in the pews.

Santorum is 100% right. These fools get in bed with the Dems to expand government entitlements and it never dawns on them that the government will use the new entitlement to force people to do what the government wants them to do. The Bishops should understand that the state is evil, period. It can’t be used for good. Sometimes it is a necessary evil, such as when it provides for a police force, but it is never a force for good in the world. The larger the state, the more chance for control freaks to get into positions of power and tell everyone what to do. So Santorum is right — the Bishops got in bed with the state and now cry about getting screwed.

Well, I gotta admit that he has a point. It's amazing to me how many allegedly "smart" people get sucked into the schemes of the left . . . . . . . . . . then wonder what happened when the time comes for the payback!

Yay, Rick...!
Someone who’s got the guts to call out the Bishs on their taking their eyes off the ball.
How great would it be to have a guy in the white house who uses phrases like “secular left”?
I get a thrill up my leg just thinking about it!!!!!!

The left sucks in many of the religious with social justice.

Many of them like that aspect, though they shouldn’t. Once they get sucked in, they believe that they will somehow be innoculated from the parts of socialism/communism/marxism that they don’t like.

They are finding out it doesn’t work that way.

"Ya gotta dance with the one that brung ya," or to put it another way, You've got to pay the piper or play the songs your host pays to you play. Rick Nelson found that one out in "Garden Party."

Just to put this in musical terms.

I just read a letter from Kmeic yesterday where he was imploring his good buddy Obama to re-think his position on HHS.

Not quite aware yet, but perhaps stirring to the enormity (yes, that’s the right word here) of what he has done.

He is very close to losing my vote for not obeying the Bible and the Church on the way you treat Bishops.
1. Go to them privately
2. Go with someone else to speak with them privately
3. Talk with your priest about it. (privately)
4. Then talk to your Bishops.

What he did was rude and uncalled for.

I hope Obama stonewalls the bishops on this.

The voters aren’t all stupid. Clearly Obama is picking and choosing the religions that get exemptions and the ones that don’t. This issue just might bring Obama down.

“Go to them privately”

It’s been tried. It doesn’t work.

I’ve never seen clearer cut cases worthy of excommunication than Biden and Pelosi. The Bishops already visited Obama and had a deal, and then he reneged.

Now they are on the outside looking in, have lost their moral authority on the matter for the same reason why the USG has lost the public on bailouts - nobody’s paid any of the consequences.

Nobody’s gone to jail.

Even if the administration backs down, why should the Bishops trust them?

All Santorum did here was tell the truth. The Catholics are backing down to Obama the same way John XXIII backed down to Hitler. Last Pope with stones was JPII, who helped Thacher and Reagan bring down the USSR.

This is the same crew that shuffled pedophiles back and forth while their moral authority burned to the ground.

Screw ‘em if they can’t take the truth.

Yep. Also the Bishops in the 28 States where this claimed to be already in effect might also have some 'splanin' to do for going along.

It’s not infallibility. It’s how Jesus told us to settle things and not go to court.

Talk to the person first, Then talk to the person while someone accompanies you, then go to the priest, bishop, etc.

I believe you know your Bible and know what I am talking about.

cannabis = dope

canibus = ablative plural form of “canis”: cum canibus = with dogs.

It would appear that Latin really is a dead language, at least in your neck of the woods.

Dear Salvation,

What you cite is the method for disciplining believers within the Church.

Sen. Santorum is not disciplining, and is not in a position to discipline, any bishops. The bishops are not under his authority in any way, shape or form.

He is merely criticizing them and explaining that they caused this mess, and how they did that.

Did the Church let the world know that they were supporting the socialist or did they go to Obama in the darkness of the night in secret?

Since this is a political rather than a private matter i would think the way he did it was the appropriate one.
