Heavenly Father, we come to You in the Name of Jesus Christ, who saved us with His blood.

Father, we pray again for our military, remembering to You all who still carry wounds from their service to our country. Some wounds are in the body, and some in the soul—but You are the Great Physician. We ask You to heal these heroes of our nation.

Lord, we pray for President Obama, that You would keep him safe and guide him into wise decisions. We ask also that You would turn his heart to You.

The God who separated the day from the night and the water from the land, the God who stretched out the sky and hung the clouds above the earth—this God is our God. The God who walked the roads of Galilee, seeking His strays, who proclaimed the year of favor and pierced our darkness with His light—this God is our God. The God who is close to the contrite and near to the brokenhearted, who loved sinners and for them endured the poverty of Bethlehem, the agony of Gethsemane, the death of Golgotha—this God is our God for ever and ever. Lord, You will guide us to the end, and we trust in You, in the everlasting Name of Jesus, Amen.

The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission.
