New York Times accused of Catholic bashing, double standard on religion

The New York Times is being accused of having a double standard when it comes to questioning religion, after it ran an ad calling on Catholics to leave their church, but nixed an ad making the same plea to Muslims.

The newspaper published an ad from Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation on March 9 which asked Catholics, “why send your children to parochial schools to be indoctrinated into the next generation of obedient donors and voters?” The ad went on to call loyalty to the faith misplaced “after two decades of sex scandals involving preying priests, church complicity, collusion and cover-up going all the way to the top.”

Maybe the New York Times is a Muslim newspaper friendly to our Muslim president...

The New York Times [snip] ran an ad calling on Catholics to leave their church, but nixed an ad making the same plea to Muslims.

How to explain the double-standard?

'Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand?"'

I would say the New York Times is being quite consistent.

Why would the Times fear any reprisals from Catholics?
They DO fear reprisals from Muslims.

Bottom line: they reaped what they sowed and got bitten in the ass. Serves'em right.

that’s only half the ad. Believe me, I saw it with my own eyes — it was a full-page ad.

Can you imagine the uproar if it had been anti-semitic and asked Jews to leave their religion?

There are more teachers accused of child molesting but they don’t mention that...

I wonder why?

Well, it’s at least nice that the left’s hated of Catholics and Christians is now out in the open.

Because they serve Satan - true enemies of Jesus Christ. They have attacked His Church for decades.

As a Roman Catholic I find it easy to tell my children that we are visitors in a foreign land here; we have nothing in common with the larger secular culture promoted by enemies of the Church, and we never will. Many of our neighbors are foreigners (Hispanics and Asians), and they are the same way.

“If you haven’t already, read my post No. 5.”

I had read it; it brought to mind the Devil tempting Christ in the desert, bringing him to the highest peak, and promising all of the kingdoms of men if He would worship the Devil; while Jesus refuses, He never tells the Devil the kingdoms aren’t his to offer. Just my thoughts...
