Sunday Mass Readings of Fourth Sunday of Lent:

Dearest Lord:

Your royal instrument said, “Whoever, therefore, among you belongs to any part of his people, let him go up (to rebuild Jerusalem) , and may his God be with him!" Oh, we were born in iniquities, our nature, which was once pristine, is now defiled with infidelity upon infidelity. It is perpetually true that the loss of charity and sanctifying beauty of our soul always come from infidelity, the refusal to worship the Lord our God. You have given so much grace and strong foundation, the Church, to guide us but how we defile your house with our abominations, our wicked habits, our lack of compassion, and our lack of veneration to your dwelling place which is both your physical temple and the temple of our soul.We brush off your inspirations, so you leave us with our own destructive desires. We discard your Grace, a remedy to heal the sickness of our soul, as quickly as we receive It. Then we return to you on your knee begging for your forgiveness only to return to our former pervert lifestyle and thoughts, habitual to our corrupted nature, which we have no desire or courage to eradicate. Dearest Lord, grant us your grace to be renewed again to serve you more worthily and constantly. Heed our sincere desire, O Lord! (2 Chr 36:14-16, 19-23)

Dearest Lord, Let my tongue be silent if I ever forget you! Let me cry for the loss of your divine presence and loving touch when I recall our past intimate moments when you taught me how to walk like a baby in your way, lifted me up and kissed me when I suffered with bruises. I used to sing to you as I was in love, completely disregarded the world and all its glamour because I had you. Then I yielded to temptations, listened alien voices instead of yours, and finally imprisoned in my own weakness and vicious captivity, the captivity of my own deeds. And with utmost kindness, you forgave and rescue me. My Lord, my God, never let me far from your sight; suffer me if I do not place Jerusalem which is your Will ahead of my joy! Amen (Ps 137:1-2, 3, 4-5, 6)

Lord, I will never know how much you love me until I see you face to face. One thing I know for sure is that your love for me is boundless and immeasurable. I will never be able to repay your love which does not ask for repayment, but does ask for sacrifices in return so that the love is not extinguished. One thing I know, Lord, I want to love you as much as I can, with reckless abandoned, with no consideration for no one but you, with no pretense, no formality, no holding back, no fear, no cares, no wants, no self concern or any concern, not with a human love, but a sacrificial love, love being supernaturalized by Grace. Grant me your grace that is all I ask! (Gospel Jn 3:14-21)

Meditation: In His great love and fatherly mercy, God has saved us through the Cross and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. By faith in the Lord, we receive Grace through Him. And by Grace, we receive Life or justification, Light or the gift of the Holy Spirit, and Truth or heavenly wisdom. Therefore, we now have become the Lord’s handiwork and then instrument to do good works which He now inspires us in order to sustain our love for Him and to keep straight the path to salvation, also to bring about his kingdom on earth. (Eph 2:4-10)
