Pondering just when this would apply. Drunkeness? Rage? Or is it more that people don't realize what they are doing, such as in a lenient parent and how a lack of discipline hurts a child?

Or does this pertain more to someone who might be mentally handicapped?

Perfectionism, fear of failure, fear of punishment? My oldest son is kind of like this ... when he was younger, especially, he would find it hard to choose a library book, because he might not like it!

Or the child of a drunk who gets slapped down for every little thing they decide to do, and ends up never deciding anything, or deciding too late.

More religious context, please! There seems to be a medical condition called “eboulia,” probably with identical origins. What’s the theological purpose? Does aboulia reduce culpability of grave sin? Is it a form of concupiscence?
