Don’t Just Feel Sorry For Jesus…

For several years, my reaction to Our Lord’s Passion was the same:

How could the authorities do this to Jesus?
How could people cry out “Crucify Him”?
What did He ever do to deserve this?
How could Peter and Judas betray their friend?
These people were really nasty!

But eventually the sadness passed (usually by the evening of Good Friday) and nothing really changed in my life. As I started to learn more about my faith, however, I realized that my sins were responsible for the Lord’s suffering. Although that was a big revelation, the guilt it produced was short-lived. At best, this would lead me to say a few prayers and apologize to Jesus and then it was “business as usual”.

Although it is commendable to feel sorry for Our Lord and even better to blame ourselves for His death, we still need to take it a step further and make some changes in our lives. As we focus on Our Lord’s passion and death during this Holy Week, something should become very obvious. Jesus Christ gave all that He had…His very life…for each one of us. He held NOTHING back. In His own words, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). How about us? Are we giving ourselves completely to the Lord or are we holding back?

How much do we trust His Will when difficulties arise in our lives?
Are we generous with our money and time?
Do we follow the teachings of His Church?
Do we obey His commandment to “love one another AS I HAVE LOVED YOU”?
Do we unite our sufferings with His?
Do we set aside time to speak with Him in prayer?
Do we ask for the grace to avoid sin?
Do we pray daily for an increase in faith, hope and charity?
Do we follow His example and serve others or do we prefer to be served?

While reading the Passion should make us feel sorry for Jesus, it should also move us to look at our own lives and make changes if necessary. He gave everything for us…

what are we giving to Him?

Your sins didn’t cause His death. He came before the Universe was created to be the the Passover Sacrifice. G-d knew what he was doing. Ponder that.

Christ died for our sins. He tells us that in Scripture.

From what you are saying it seems to me that you are saying Christ is NOT the redeemer?

Is that correct?

"Your sins didn’t cause His death. "

Wrong. Death entered the human race when Adam sinned. Not only was Christ free from the stain of sin from Adam, he led a sinless life. Therefore Christ was the new Adam and as such, immortal. Had he not accepted our sins to be the sacrifice for us he not only wouldn't have died, he couldn't have died.

Gary Zimack, “I realized that >my sins were responsible for the Lord’s suffering.” Zimack understands Christianity, praise God!

In the Roman Catholic Church during the Liturgy, V= Voice & C= Crowd (the part of the crowd may be recited by the >people.)
>Voice, “Why? What evil has he done?” >Crowd, “Crucify him.” A Mystery of Christianity: God teaches ALL of >us to cry out, “Crucify him.” We are called to be living-Saints & to remember it is >our sins that caused the suffering of Jesus.

The First Prediction of the Passion: Matthew16: 22-23, “Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke him. “God forbid, Lord! No such thing shall ever happen to you.” He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me. You are thinking NOT as >God does, but as human beings do.”

Creatures don’t understand the Mystery of God: The Life, Death & Resurrection of Jesus Christ. If I was God, I wouldn’t have done it like that! Sometime all we can say in prayer is: “Thank you, Lord.”

+The women in the Church, seem to pray the Rosary more devoutly as they are ‘gifted with a mother’s heart’ & understand the sorrows of Mary.

Most people don’t face God - they face their groups. And if their groups approve of them, they believe God approves of them.

At death, God clears that little misunderstanding up.

Just the opposite. HE was the redeemer before the foundations of the earth were created. As Paul stated, HE gave us grace when we sinned. But when questioned if we should sin more to receive more grace, he stated an emphatic no. He was describing Christ’s gift of sacrificing himself for our sins, as the Passover Lamb’s blood was spread over the doors to admonish G-d to not take the first born. HE described himself at the Last Supper, which was a Passover Seder—This is my Body. This is my Blood—he was describing himself as the Passover Lamb, or as the sacrifice for all of our sins.. My point is that he knew every sin that you will commit before you were born. And in fact, He died and was resurrected for that...
