The Belgian Cardinal Godfried Danneels was definitely informed forty times of sexual abuse within the Belgian Catholic Church, according to the Flemish newspaper Het Laaste News, which relies on a correspondence between the cardinal and the victims or their families. These letters have emerged as part of the extensive investigation, named Operation Chalice.

last stat i saw showed 700 teachers and assistants being dismissed for abuse per year. that’s 2 a day. 60 per month.

Danneels, yet another liberal “papabile,” (pope-able) joining other liberal aspiring popes, like Bernard Law, Joseph Bernardin and Roger Mahony.
