Going to jail would be a real downer, but I’m about ready to be shot, if it will help the cause. God and Texas! Liberty or Death!
God and Texas indeed! If you can, then so can I.
Get shot? Tell me when and where. But I'm not going unless there's convenient free parking and a decent bathroom!
Or better yet, use your internet conection.
So true. I wonder if they realize that their willingness to make common cause with socialism has brought us to this point.
And will they be willing to emulate Cardinal O'Connor's example?
Barry has been thrashing around and trying to ignite a Constitutional crisis ever since he was inaugurated and probably thought he'd finally get what he wanted when he released an obviously fraudulent birth certificate as impeachment bait. With no Congressional challenge to his being eligible, and no State refusing him a place on the ballot due to his lack of a Birth Certificate, he's now clearly desperate to ignite a Constitutional crisis any way he can. If all else fails, Barry will obviously ignore the Constitution and clearly state that he is doing so as a challenge to Congress to impeach him.
I believe the Supreme Court will knock down BarryCare and just as Andrew Jackson's reacted to Worcester v. Georgia with "John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it!", Barry will ignore the Court.
Barry wants to play the role of the savior who instigates and oversees the writing of a new Constitution. He sees himself as the father of a new nation built atop the ashes of the United States. Since all the money he's thrown into the rat hole of democrat graft and schemes haven't gotten him praise of the sort FDR enjoyed and leveraged so well, he's going to the next level. After his other fantasies have failed, his narcissism demands that the masses failing to recognize his magnificence be rewarded by violence and violence this election he will have, one way or another.
“The only appropriate option is for our laity to stand in solidarity with our bishops, and for our bishops and other religious administrators to publicly defy the mandate and keep the institutions open without compliance.”
I agree, but I think it would be nice of the hierarchy would support our individual rights not to be included in ObamaCare, either. They should have protected their flock, not just their purses, but that’s water under the bridge; I have no interest in seeing their exemption protected while a Catholic’s small business isn’t, and can only hope the whole thing gets tossed.
Wow! This is a very disturbing post. however, it states the case against this administration better than anything I have rfead yet.
A few weeks ago I posted on one of these messagesn that I believed it would become essential for Bishops and other dedicated Catholics to defy the government and refuse to close the facilities Also, we must refuse to pay the fines, etc. and actually goad the government into arresting thousands of people who will fill the ajils with law-abiding Christian witnesses to the totalitarian schemes of this administration.
This article says it all brilliantly by comparing it to the Polisr RC Church’s experience with the communist regime.

Vivo Christo Rey!!!
(good to see you back)
He wants that crisis. Then he can blame the Catholic church, seize the hospitals, and force socialised medicine. This whole thing was planned and scripted out. The Catholic church is playing part as they expected.
It’s almost easier to picture a dramatic but quick martyrdom than what I’m afraid we are really called to do.
Remember St. Peter said he would die for Jesus, but a few hours later was unprepared to endure mere embarrassment for him.
I don’t think God wants the mortal drama. I think he wants us to make the slow and painful sacrifice of daily attempts to explain this church-state issue to people who don’t care and vocally defend the Church against those who want Her gone. Although ultimately some could be called to give their lives for their faith, far more of us will simply be called to put up with prolonged ridicule and disdain. We may have to let well-loved family members walk off in a huff. In some ways that sort of thing is harder, because it is ongoing.
It reminds me of the sacrifices of parenthood. Every parent will say they will go under a bus to save their kid. But how many will, day after day, year after year, patiently train their kids to be honest, chaste, brave, generous, fair, etc., instead of caving in to the tantrums or the bad trends in the culture?
It’s a long-term, humbling commitment.
Oh, and we will succeed only with the help and presence of the Holy Spirit. So don’t make a move without Him.
**I think he wants us to make the slow and painful sacrifice of daily ** rosaries and chaplets of Divine Mercy.
Cardinal Francis George wrote that only three options will exist for Catholic institutions to avoid shutting down under the Obama administrations HHS mandate: 1) secularize itself, breaking its connection to the church, her moral and social teachings and the oversight of its ministry by the local bishop, 2) pay exorbitant annual fees to avoid paying for birth control-inclusive insurance policies or 3) sell the institution to a non-Catholic group or to a local government.
That might be so, but I reckon the bishops must not think it’s too big of a deal, or they would use public discipline on public Catholics that voted for and support the thing publicly. It’s like wailing that your house is burning down and saying I could use a garden hose, buckets from the creek, or hope it will rain but never yell “fire” or call the fire dept. It just gives the impression that it must not be too big a deal when you get right down to it.
Freegards
I think those who defy the regime will be taken into “protective custody” and held indefinitely without trial.
I, too will pass the word. There is NO other way. Open defiance also causes obama and those upon his dance card to mostly be limited to more or less overt moves, too. Although I’m not looking forward to his “Committee of Public Safety,” I must admit.
