Prayer request for my brother

This is my first prayer request on FR. My brother has had MS for 20 years. He has been on permanent disability for 15. Two weeks ago he had surgery to reattach a pump that is connected to his spine. Yesterday they discovered he has an infection in his spinal cord from the first surgery. They are going to perform another surgery today. He is truly my hero, a very decent family man and devote Christian. He never complains. Instead of saying Why me? he says Why not me? It had to happen to someone. I can handle it. His surgery is today at 1 central time.

David is out of surgery. They removed the pump that administers his MS drugs (it is attachded to his spine.) They need to clear up the infection around the pump site and then decided what to do about the pump. Without the pump the MS gets worse but an infection close to the spine is even worse. Thank you for all the prayers. I have let his family know and will show him when he gets back home.

And check if the hospital has a high rate of nocosomial infections...if they have a lot of them, sue...(and as a doc I hate to say sue....but it’s not the docs, some hospitals aren’t making sure the housecleaners etc. keep the OR clean enough due to finacial cutbacks. when I worked in Minnesota, our “wound care” physician usually did the vascular bypasses at a suburban hospital because the university hospital had such a high rate of infected wounds etc...)..

Thank you all for your continued prayers. They took the pump out on Friday but that means he isn’t getting the dosage of his MS meds so Saturday his legs are stiff and he can’t walk. They determined he has a staph infection in the blood. They have done two MRIs (head & spine) to determine what damage that has done. So right now they are focusing on getting the infection cleared up then they will decided about the pump.

I told David and his wonderful wife Linda about your prayers. They expressed their gratitude.
