Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
(1 Thessalonians 5:24)

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: heroes; nation; pray
Praise be to You, the Lord our Rock, who trains our hands for war, our fingers for battle. You are our loving God and our fortress, our stronghold and our deliverer, our shield, in whom we take refuge. Part Your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke. Send forth lighting and scatter the enemy; shoot Your arrows and rout them. Reach down Your hand from on high; deliver our Nation and rescue us! Father God, we pray that You will cause no weapon forged against us to prevail. Enable us to refute the tongue of our accuser. Thank You for giving this as a heritage to Your servants, O Lord

O, Father, we confess that we cannot fathom Your mysteries. We cannot probe Your limits, almighty One. They are higher than the heavens. They are deeper than the depths of the grave. Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea. To the Israelites, Lord, Your glory looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain. Help our American Heroes to be thankful and to worship You acceptably with reverence and awe, because You, our God, are a consuming fire. Truly, You are both a God nearby and a God far away. No one can hide in secret places so that You cannot see him. You fill heaven and earth! In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Who You’re Meant To Be

May 1, 2012

“Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” Quoting those words of St. Catherine of Siena, the Bishop of London began his message to Prince William and Kate Middleton at their wedding in Westminster Abbey. Many watching on TV were deeply touched as the bishop affirmed their choice “to be married in the sight of a generous God who so loved the world that He gave Himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ.” Then he urged the couple to pursue a love that finds its center beyond themselves.

From Romans 12, the bride’s brother read: “I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect” (vv.1-2 NRSV).

That royal wedding reminds us all, single or married, of two great truths: (1) God’s great love for us expressed in the sacrifice of Jesus and (2) God’s desire that we find life’s greatest joy and transformation in our relationship with Him. Aren’t those the keys to becoming the persons God meant us to be?

Although I may not understand
The path You’ve laid for me,
Complete surrender to Your will—
Lord, this my prayer shall be. —Sherbert
We become who God meant us to be by giving ourselves completely to Him.

Read: Romans 12:1-2,9-18

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice. —Romans 12:1
Bible in a Year:
2 Chronicles 26-29

In Breaking News was a Call for Prayer:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2878460/posts

Earlier this past week you may have heard on Glenn Beck’s radio show Michelle Bachman recounted a story that last Sunday (April 22nd) she was in Afghanistan and stood over a young man who had just lost his left leg in an IED attack.

Let me tell you the rest of the story, that young man had to be PFC. Justin Lansford, (22 years old) whose vehicle was hit by a IED earlier that day. Justin is a close and personal friend of my family, having known him since he was about 14 years old.

He steady dated my daughter through High School and went to all the proms and dances with her. He was an accomplished High School athlete (football) for Brookwood High School here in Georgia. She was his sponsor at his Confirmation. We have been blessed to know him.

As writing this, Justin is fighting for his life at a hospital in Germany. He lost his left leg just above the knee, his spleen was removed, lacerated liver, multiple broken ribs, two fractured femurs, punctured lung and fractured spine. With all that, he still is a fighter and refuses to succumb.

This past Friday, he was to be transferred to Walter Reed but unfortunately has developed A.R.D.S and pneumonia. He remains in a medically induced coma in Germany where doctors now have requested his parents come. They are now there as of this past Saturday.

He is now in the hands of the doctors and God.
