Cardinal Koch hit the nail right on the head--"progressive" Catholics can be every bit as anti-Semitic as traditionalist ones, and the Jewish mania with promoting liberal chrstianity as the antidote to chrstian anti-Semitism has simply got to stop.

I notice David Bollag (whoever that is) didn't respond to this, though, and went right back to screaming about Catholics returning to ancient prayer forms. How would he feel if someone demanded Orthodox Jews stop praying in Hebrew or drop 'al hamalshinim from the Shemonei-`Esrei?

Liberal chrstians regard the Torah as a forgery, HaShem as a primitive blood-thirsty tyrant, and ancient Jewish history as mythology, yet almost every Jew involved in "ecumenical relations" (which no Jew should be involved in, really) are obsessed with promoting liberal chrstianity. They seem to think if all chrstians became liberal chrstians the world would suddenly morph into a utopia.

Again, I don't understand why a devout Jew, a devout Catholic, or a devout anything, would be involved in all these "dialogues." The whole point of "dialogue" is to merge two points together via mutual compromises. What sincere religious person can compromise? Time to put an end to all this "dialogue" nonsense from all perspectives.

Why does no chrstian ever bring up the Jewish holy wars of extermination that preceded chrstianity by a thousand years? True, these wars were Divinely commanded, but Jews (it seems) need to be reminded that they were "narrow minded-fundies" before anyone else was and that Jewish history does not consist solely of free-thinking hippies under constant attack by neanderthal religious fanatics. Someone should bring it up just to see the looks on the faces of the dialogue partners.

Before closing, I would like to point out that the Orthodox Jewish attachment to liberal chrstianity puzzled me a great deal more until conservative chrstians started arguing with conservative moslems. Suddenly strict Fundamentalists started screaming about "theocracy" and the savagery of stoning adulterers (the Biblical penalty), and hitting moslems over the head with John Locke, Thomas Jefferson, "western civilization," "religious freedom," and any number of other religious non-entities or historical curiosities. It seems that everyone, no matter how conservative in his own faith, would like the other guy to be a liberal in his.
