this is a redux of the bank scandals of 30 years ago...and it is part of the mechanisms for the liberals to take over the church in the name of “reform”...
It’s nice to say that the church should only “preach the gospel”, but who pays to train the preachers? or pays the salaries and upkeep for the hospitals, schools, and churches?
Remember, there are one billion Catholics, and someone has to organize these things.
Small bible churches don’t have such problems, you might say...except they do, but the problems are small so don’t get noticed...
And you might say “worship God and forget the church”, but that ignores that the church, from it’s very start, was an organization...Peter even appointed deacons like Stephen to care for the widows and orphans so that the apostles could preach...
and since religious people are naive, there will be plenty of wolves in sheep’s clothing to prey on them and steal their money.
