For several days now the site Catechetics Online is not showing. Instead a redirection occurs to their host, secureserver.net, with a request to call 1-480-624-2500.
The cached explanation for the site says:
Our website aims to be a growing professional catechetics website that serves catechetists by offering resources free for their use, as well as to offer an online community to spread the Good News and foster solid, orthodox catechetical values throughout the nation and abroad. mission statement Catechetics Online is a professional and growing Roman Catholic website with several different purposes.
I have been using the site for years as the best source for all four Catena Aureas online. Most sites have the Catenas for some gospels but not for all four of them.
I tried to call the number and got a busy signal.
This worries me. We should not allow this site to go down. My resources, both of time and of money are very limited. However, I was wondering if someone might have a better luck connecting to the hosting company, or knows something about the site owner. If you know anything, please post to this thread, or if it is sensitive information, write me a FR email. Thank you.
When I tried their site, I was blocked by my antivirus which said it had blocked a malicious website. Maybe they have been hacked.
Annalex, I don’t know if you have either an ipod touch or an ipad or android phone, but if you do, there’s a great, and cheap app which may help you with the Catena, although not with the website. it’s called iPieta. Along wi a Douay-Rheims Bible, most major encyclicals, numerous Catholic books, it also has all of Catena Aurea, as well as the Haydock commentaries. On the ‘pod or ‘pad it’s something like 2.99. I have it on the work ipad, my ipod, and I have most segments on my phone (the android version is broken into sections, each one is something like 99 cents.) I like it. When I get a chance, I’ll check my voluminous bookmarks, see if I can find another online version & send via freepmail.
Amen! I have it too. Wonderful. Also the catechism is now an e-book.
Thank you both; I don’t need their files all that much, — I probably have accumulated 99% of the Catena just from daily postings.
It simply is a pity if they go down.
No, I don’t have all these iThings, I am a medieval man.
You mean, now?
It did not occur to me that that may be the reason.
No, that only gives static pages. Since the actual server is down, CatenaAurea.php cannot serve the pages.
Lesson to web designers: dynamic pages cannot be crawled.
