This is my comfort in my affliction:
for thy word hath quickened me.
(Psalm 119:50)

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: heroes; nation; pray
Lord, our God, show the wonder of Your great love, You who save by Your right hand those who take refuge in You from their foes. Keep us, Your children in this Nation, and all our American Heroes as the apples of Your eye; hide us in the shadow of Your wings from the wicked who assail us. Reach down from on high, our God and our Redeemer, and take hold of us! Draw us out of deep waters. Rescue us from our powerful enemy, from our foes, who are to strong for us! Our enemy has confronted us in the day of our disaster, but You, Lord, are our support! Bring us, Your children in this Nation, and all our American Heroes to a spacious place; rescue us because You delight in us!

O Lord, You have searched us and You know us. You know when we sit and when we rise; You perceive our thoughts from afar. You discern our going out and our lying down; You are familiar with all our ways. Father, we thank You that while You love us completely, You know everything about us. Help us to be completely truthful with You. We don't need to hide anymore. Lord God, if we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess ur sins, You are faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Father, please help us to accept the fact that we have not outsinned Your ability to forgive us! In Jesus name, Amen

Judge Rightly

June 19, 2012

After a national news magazine posted an online story listing my community as one of the top-10 dying cities in the nation, local citizens were outraged. They registered their indignation, pointing out evidence to the contrary. One resident went to great lengths to disprove the harsh judgment. He recruited local citizens to show up downtown and appear in a video that showcased the vibrancy of our community. The video received international attention, and the news magazine admitted it was wrong. But the organization that had done the “research” stood by the conclusion, even though it was based on limited criteria.

Their self-defense surprised me because their careless conclusion seemed indefensible. But then I thought of how common it is to make faulty judgments based on minimal information. One of the classic biblical examples is that of Job’s friends. They wrongly concluded that because a series of tragedies happened to him, Job had sinned.

In the end, God defended Job and offered a startling conclusion. He didn’t rebuke his friends for judging Job but for speaking falsely about Himself (Job 42:7). This is a humbling reminder that when we make careless judgments about others, we are sinning against God.

Lord, please restrain my lips when I’m tempted to say
what I shouldn’t say about people made in
Your image. Use my words to bless and not harm.
May I reflect Your heart.
If you are a Christian, remember that people judge your Lord by you.

We also pray that Your hand is upon this election. We don't know the future, but You do. We ask for a leader who seeks Your wisdom and guidance. Someone who does not move Your boundaries, but follows Your laws. Give us your children wisdom and discernment in voting. We walk by faith and not by sight. Help us to remember that. Amen

He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.

PRAYERS GOING UP FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON AND THE MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE AT VALLEY FORGE

"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod"
William Billings
(Click)

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Amen.

SHADOWS AT ARLINGTON

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)
