Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. (Psalm 95:6-7)

Lord, this is the day that You have made; let us be glad in it.

Father, we pray for our troops in harm's way, that You will protect them. Keep them until the day You restore them to their homes and families.

Lord, we pray that Your grace would be with Your people. Remind us, when we are forgetting, who You are, and who You have called us to be.

LORD, You are our Maker and our God; we worship no other Name, we bow down to no other Lord. We are the people of Your pasture, the flock under Your care, and You, dear Jesus, are our good Shepherd. You search for the lost and rejoice when You find them; You laid down Your life so that we might have life, and have it to the full. We trust in the strong, tender hand of our Shepherd, Jesus Christ who is our God forever praised, Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Amen.
