Blinded when a suicide bomber's car exploded in Mosul, Iraq, in 2005, Scotty Smiley was in Alaska this week speaking on behalf of a new wilderness lodge for wounded military members and their spouses.
Capt. Smiley, the first blind, active-duty Army officer, stood in uniform on a Port Alsworth dock jutting into Lake Clark and said he was enjoying the sun and fresh air. I have known men who were RA officers who lost much less and they were medically discharged. If this officer is not a Chaplain-I really wonder why he is still on AD? God knows I feel for him and his loved ones. I have told several 80 plus year old mothers what really happenened to their sons as we valued the words -”Top Secret”. I do wish the best for this man and his family. I just wonder if AD is the answer?
Why don't you ask his CO? In the meantime, I will pray for all those who have been wounded, including you...and I will give thanks that Samaritan's Purse is providing this service.
I will. You can bet on it. I know you mean well, and; so do I. I met a chaplain in early spring 69 after I was much better, and; the man had been in WWII as an INF CPT.He was very beneficial to one SFC I knew who were hit seven plus times.
Even if the Pentagon under the leadership of O and P continues to dis Franklin Graham We do so agree Samaritans Purse is doing God’s Work.
