How Do You Keep a Healthy Perspective?
Madmominct

Posted on 07/03/2012 7:33:36 AM PDT by madmominct

Just a question...I find myself getting either furious or depressed about the state of our country. As a Christian, I realize that I need to keep a perspective about these things but it's very difficult. I look at someone like Breitbart, who was in the midst of the struggle and was suddenly taken away, to a new place where presumably, it is all irrelevant. I just wonder how you all manage to keep on an even keel emotionally about all of this. Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom!

I think you have to understand that Truth and the world go separate ways. You have to keep in mind that being on the side of truth is more important than political circuses - although the truth should prevail in some form and on some basic level in human society, if only in the form of protest. And there is vocal and written and living social and political protest. And this you must take part in, as a witness and voice of dissent. It’s not easy. But it must be done - the mush culture does not have the final word. Chin up! ; )

You have a duplicate post; you might ask the moderator to delete the earlier one.

I look at it this way: the Lord has always taken care of individuals, even in nations that were condemned by His righteous judgement. Moreover, the Lord may judge nations, but He will relent if they repent. These two maxims are seen throughout the entire Bible.

I do think America is under judgement for its sins. And the ramifications of those sins must play out; they may not be explicitly part of God's judgement, but they must happen nonetheless. I prepare for the day when it all falls apart here in America, but I pray our people will turn to the Lord and repent.

I don't have a lot of confidence that America will repent before she falls. Israel was taken captive before she repented.

For me, I just happen to remind myself that everything has a reson for happening, but only God knows why and it’s all part of His plan. Also, I thank Him all the time for what He’s given me.

Besides, what can worrying or getting mad actually accomplish? So many people have worried and gotten mad throughout history, and yet, here we are. You should spend your time thanking God and partaking of all the good things He’s given us.

I spent some time ruminating after the SC decision on Obamatax. Never really got angry, just felt sucker-punched in the gut - didn’t really see it coming.

So I spent some time researching, to see if maybe there was a silver lining (haven’t found one yet).

Not one to sit around and moan (done my share of that, in spades), started wondering what to do.

Heard on the radio this morning the Obama campaigners were out in the local downtown registering voters - in all this heat.

So I think I now know my course - I’m not just going to sit around and whine about Romney this or Obama that.

Going to research my local candidates, and work to get the most conservative house & senate (fed & state) I can.

Don’t get mad - get busy.

A "healthy perspective" is what the Left is counting on to continue their march to socialism. It's what allows us to do nothing.

I am also a Christian. I firmly believe that God has everything in control, and that prayer is a powerful weapon against the enemy. Keep praying, and don't allow conversation to lessen/weaken your resolve to act.

Thank you - I will. And I don’t intend to lessen my passion one bit...as long as I’m breathing I’ll fight.

When the Jews were being rounded up and slaughtered by mr popularity and the NATional SOcialists, who knew what if any good would come of it?

The great displacement is over. The Nation of Israel was reborn in spite of this great evil..

I intend to sign up for whatever truly conservative candidates there are in this deep blue state and campaign for them - and turn my anger into action.

This world is temporary, don’t get too wrapped up in it. Enjoy yourself, do what you can for others and don’t get caught up in too much hype you can’t control anyways.

I don’t think I ever prayed harder than before the 08 election.

A lot of good that did.

For me, I keep in mind a few things. Among them are the fact that America has been getting destroyed from the inside for quite some time.

We are ALREADY post-apocalyptic.

I know who the winners of the conflict will be. America is a country like none other - And when the dust settles, we’ll win. And when we win, we can look forward to a brighter future.

Right now we are afraid to lose something that we shouldn’t be afraid of losing. We should embrace it. I embrace it because I know that afterwards, things will actually get better. Hopefully, we can blast Liberalism out of the American Lexicon for generations to come.

We will once again be free. Free to live and free to die. Self reliant, self sufficient, and self-responsible. When the beast that feeds the ignorati finally dies, so do the ignorati.

We will always have a struggle against evil people and evil powers. But America will once again become “The Land of the Free”, where we can all go about our business with our families, businesses, farms, talents, hobbies, and even charity-based programs.

This will happen because America isn’t a crushed society, like we find in Europe. Europeans wouldn’t know the first thing about freedom or liberty. They are easy to conquer. Our current younger generations are easy to conquer, because they grew up in this stew of apathy, greed, and liberalism. But America’s bright past isn’t that far off. We still have a lot of people who realise what’s at stake here. And we have the largest percentage of people who can actually fight if it comes to it.

Even electing Romney the next term won’t help us, and our generations to follow. This is only continuing to raise the heat on the boiling pot of water further. Obama, Clinton, Reid, Pelosi, et al are all making the “mistake” of trying too much, too fast. And now the frog knows it’s in hot water.

I feel we need to break this system down. We NEED to return to the constitution. We NEED to push these lawmakers out - all of them - And substitute them for patriots, intelligence, and a real understanding of the American Way. And that won’t happen with a peaceful election of Romney. Romney won’t break down the system and rebuild it based on any guidelines. We need to be rid of judges who tell other countries that our Constitution “Isn’t right for them”. Get the socialists out, get the communists out, the Alinksy-ites, and the lazy liberals.

Because as Ronald Reagan stated : This is the last place on earth. When America is gone, there is no where else to go.

From 'Act of Valor'

Chief Tecumseh Poem

At the end, it had this amazing poem by Native American Shawnee Chief, Tecumseh.

"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion;respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home."

Most Christians fall into one of two categories: the younger brother (the prodigal) or the older brother (the hard hearted) when all the time we are supposed to like the father, who ran to his son, put a robe on his back, ring on his hand and was ecstatic that his son who was lost, had now been found!

It is hard to watch the nation fall apart and do so in such a rapid fashion. We have allowed our language to be co-opted or worse, redefined in ridiculous ways. Gay is when ‘Johnny” comes marching home. Sorry, but it’s sodomy, not being ‘happy.’

I write this to say you’re not alone. We are blessed to have the bible which lays out the roadmap for a nation’s demise. We also know that Jesus is real and just and true to everything He said He would do. So we have to be good citizens of the US, but even more so, we have to be faithful disciples of His kingdom.

We very well may be embroiled in the last days of planet earth and have to realize that we win in the end, but suffer many defeats until that time. It is hard to do, but as a follower of Christ (didn’t say Christian) we have to live each moment focusing on His truth, resurrection, redemption and know that no matter what this world throws at us God be praised, and may His kingdom come.

Take a break from the internet. Too much info too fast and too negative.

“I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly!” - Jesus
Amen Lord, and AMEN.

Based on the answers before mine, it would seem that you are getting some healthy and helpful perspective on your question. Just remember that it was never promised to mankind that we would have an easy time of it... in fact the exact opposite is true. If it wasn’t, it would mean that God was lying when he said that we would end up living ‘under the curse’.....and we know that God never lies. Whenever I go through periods of questioning ‘why this or why that is happening’, it usually is a signal to get back to some really bare bones fundamentals. Take a look at Jeremiah 23 to get a glimpse of the thoughts going through God’s mind as he observes a culture that has rejected him (with specific emphasis on pastors and prophets who have completely lost their way).... not a pretty thing to not be in God’s fold. On the other hand, what you can do is personally hang on to His promises....including this one from Hebrews 5-6: ......for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Remember.... when we all stand before God in that future day, we each are only responsible for what have individually done, not for what the rest of the country has done or even what somebody very close to us has done i.e. wife, husband, children, parents etc.
