Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah ? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.(Isaiah 63;1-4)

How important is the Arab world to Bible prophecy ? Isaiah predicts that Jesus himself comes to his own people, from Edom, which is the territory south and east of the Dead Sea currently known as Southern Jordan and Northern Saudi Arabia. In the process of saving his people, Jesus’ garments become spattered in the blood of God’s enemies who sought to annihilate those people!

Such is the day of Divine vengeance, and the time of the Redemption of the “seed of the woman”.. It starts in Edom, and works its way out to the whole world, ending in the judgment of the nations and the establishment of the Kingdom of God.

Israel, besieged and surrounded, will be rescued on that day by her Redeemer/husband, the LORD.

Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives…(Zechariah 14:1-4)

Edom, or Esau as he is known, was Jacob’s twin brother. He was the firstborn, the son expected by man to have the birthright. But the birthright of Abraham, and Isaac, which involved the very purpose of God for the salvation of the world was a matter of God’s choosing, not man’s.

God didn’t choose Esau to bring into the world the Messiah, the promised “ seed of the woman”.God chose the second born, Jacob. He would be the "God of Abraham,Isaac and Jacob”. Esau could have accepted this, he could also have entered into the salvation of God, by faith, as Abraham did.

But instead Esau cultivated a sense of grievance, which turned into bitterness. He hated Jacob, and vowed to murder him, believing that Jacob had swindled him out of his birthright. The descendants of Esau, have also nurtured that hatred, in fact it exists to this day, it is called in scripture, “the Perpetual hatred”.

Edom has been destroyed as a national entity, as has Moab, and Ammon, they are no longer Kingdoms as they once were.. But there are a people whom God addresses as Edom, or Esau, or Mt. Sier, who feature heavily in end times prophecy.

The descendant Ishmaelites, Edomites, Moabites, Midianites, and the rest of the traditional, ancient enemies of Israel, constitute the Arab middle east. A good many have been christianised, but the bulk of them are Muslim. I believe that Edom is a designation for the Arab Muslim world, who are the near neighbors of Israel and who hate her very existence.

The prophet Obadiah addresses the coming judgment on Esau, and gives the reasons why;

Violence against His brother Jacob- For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever. Obadiah 10

Joining those who plundered Jerusalem-In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.(Obadiah 11) Taking Joy in the suffering and humiliation of Israel-But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.(Obadiah 13)

We see shades of this in the recent spectacle of “Palestinian” Arabs dancing in the streets and passing out sweets at the news of the slaughter of the Udi Fogel family in their beds, including the slitting of an infant’s throat, and the stabbing of a three year old in the heart by grown men. God has seen this and taken note.

Assisting the persecutors of Israel and hindering their escape from them- The Hadith’s of the Koran teach Muslims that this very thing will be done in the last days, that even the rocks and trees will betray the hiding places of Jews, that they might be slaughtered.

No wonder then , that Esau’s modern sons were so willing to assist the Nazi’s in the holocaust, and by rioting and pograms, to prevent their return to the Holy Land in the days of the Nazi terror. This is the murderous rage of Edom, called the “perpetual hatred”, in Ezekiel.

Loving bloodshed - Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.(Ezekiel 35:5-6)

Esau’s spiritual descendents boast that they love blood. They name city squares in Gaza and the West Bank after mass murderers, and pass out sweets when Jewish children are murdered. Mothers aspire that their sons will be mass murderers, and hold wedding ceremonies for them after they perform cruel murder.

They tell us in the west that they will prevail, because we love life but they love death. Should we even imagine that God doesn’t see this and hate it ? Christ will have the last word, not the USA or the EU.

Edom is sick, it is doomed, Christ is coming to make war on it. This death and blood loving culture will be pursued by blood in the day that Christ comes back.

Claiming the Holy Mountain as theirs- And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume. Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.( Ezekiel 35:12-13)

Even after the 1967 six-day war and the retaking of Jerusalem, the Jordanian Waqf has been given by Israel, stewardship of the temple mount in Jerusalem. This mountain is the holiest place to the Jewish people, the only place on earth where God says He has placed His name, yet it is controlled by Edomites.

They are feverishly destroying any archeological evidence of a Jewish temple, hollowing out the Holy Mountain, and hauling off the rubble containing crushed, but precious relics of first and second temple, and dumping them as fill! God is allowing this until the appointed time.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.(Ezekiel 36:5)

Judgment is coming to Edom, there are places in southern Jordan that are going to be rendered uninhabitable even into the millennium, so great is the wrath. Christ himself returns to Edom, because his own people are trapped there, and He comes to rescue them.

Pray for the Moslems, the Arab people, many are being converted by dreams visions and revelations of Jesus, God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance…Whosever will call upon the name of Jesus will be saved!

Edom is Esau who sold his birthright to his brother Jacob. And then Jacob was given the inheritance. And the peoples of Esau have never forgotten what could have been theirs.

The Arab Muzzies today claim their lineage from the Yishamel (aka Ismael, Ishmaelites) who is the son of Avraham (aka Abraham) and the half brother of Yitzchak (aka Isaac).

The descendants of Esav (aka Esau) let the area known as Edom and traveled to the land of Chittim according to the Sefer HaYasher (aka Book of the Upright, Book of Jasher).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sefer_haYashar_%28midrash%29

Where is the land of Chittim? Today it is known as Rome. It’s not Cyprus as is thought to be.

What color was synonymous with the ancient Roman Empire. Red. The Catholic Church? Red. What color is associated with the collectivist movement of the 20th century (aka Communism, Fascism, Nazism, et al)? Red. What does the word, “Edom” mean in Hebrew? Red. What color was Esav (aka Esau) defined as? Red. What does the Prophet Isaiah say was he dressed in? “Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel,...”

What did Esav want to do Yaakov (aka Jacob)? Murder him.
How many Jews did ancient Rome murder? Many. How many Jews were murdered by the Church by way of the Crusades? Many. And the persecution of Jews by the Church? Many. How many people did the collectivist movement murder during the 20th century. About 250 million. How about the unborn which still goes on today? Some say up to a billion.

Who was one of the grandsons of Esav? Amalek. Who attacked and continues to attack Jews right leaving Sinai? Amalek. Which group of collectivists of the 20th century are associated with Amalek? The Nazis. Which character in the story Esther is descended from Amalek? Haman. How many of his sons were hung at the gallows? 10. How many close associates of Hitler’s were hung on the holiday of Purim after the Nuremberg trials had concluded? 10.

How many Nazis did the Church help flee Europe? According to Sam Donaldson about 60,000 via the Rat Line.

Excellent little study! Thanks! This has been one of my favorite passages, seemingly overlooked by those who think Jesus' return to earth will be first to Olivet. Yes, His foot will touch there, but only after His campaign from Edom, likely to Petra, where as in Acts 1:11 "... this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into The Heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into The Heaven."

This does not say He will return to the same spot, as many presume. What the two white-garbed ones say is is that He will come in like manner out of The heaven; that is, in like manner He will return alone; but into Edom; and will come from there alone (Brides do not fight their Husband's bloody battles); and meet the Bride descending to Olivet, the band of Overcomers, at the point from whence he left them; and from take them victoriously into the Mount of Zion, through the Eastern Gate, to rule the Earth with His Consort, and through His Viceroy, David.

Is this not so, Pastor Bill?

http://www.chizukshaya.com/2009/12/the-confrontation-between-yaakov-and-esav-a-metaphor-for-jewish-history-still-unfolding.html

...if one accepts that the confrontation between Yaakov and Esav’s angel is a metaphor for Jewish history, then it seems that Jewish history has played out exactly as the story has foretold. Throughout our exile, the nations of the Christian world (Edom) have sent “messengers” (i.e., their leaders and governments) in an effort to prevail against us and destroy the Jewish people. And we have suffered terribly. But we have endured.

In the 20th century, it seems, these persecutions culminated in the Holocaust - the greatest blow to the Jewish people, in terms of loss of life and the magnitude of the suffering, in our history. Yet, we survived and, a mere three years after the end of World War II, successfully fought - against all odds - to establish a sovereign nation in Eretz Yisroel.

It was at this point that the “emissaries” of the Christian world finally acknowledged that they could not prevail - that the Jewish people would not vanish - and thereby recognized us as “Israel.” No longer were we simply the Jewish people in the eyes of the world, but, going forward, we were to be recognized as the nation of “Israel.” In other words, if one accepts the metaphor, then one could conclude that the name “Israel” given to Yaakov by Esav’s angel is reflected historically in the recognition by the UN (controlled at that time by the Christian world) of the new country of Israel.

Equally consistent with the parable, with the formation of the State of Israel, we have witnessed an historical transformation of the relationship between the Jewish people and the Christian world so that, whereas formerly that relationship was marked for centuries by persecution and antipathy, the Christian world has now reconciled with the Jewish people, and at least as far as their governments are concerned, now generally display a highly favorable and friendly approach to the Jewish people and State of Israel. This outcome was also predicted by the Torah - after Yaakov’s name is changed to Israel, Esav reconciles (realizing that he cannot prevail against Yaakov)...

When Yaakov met with Esav, after splitting up his family on different paths (for fear of destruction at the hand of Esav) and fighting with Esav’s angel (Yaakov was frightened of possibly becoming like Esav), their meeting was positive and cordial as we see today with the way Christians and Jews get along.

But keep in mind that Esav’s grandson, Amalek, is still out there causing problems for Jews and Israel from within the Christian and Islamic cultures with the rise of anti-Semitism across the world.

Today the story of Esther has been playing out in modern times with the global rise of anti-Semitism (Haman/Amalek/Muslim Brotherhood) and the women’s movement (Esther). Can’t wait to see how it plays itself out to the end.

As a side note I was reading something about the prophecy given by Yirmayahu (Jeremiah), Daniel, and Yehezkel (Ezekiel) who all speak of a time when Jews will be called by God’s name. Yirmayahu 14:9 says, “You God are in the midst of us, and we are called by your name.”

The word, “Jew” comes from the word “Yehuda” (aka Judah, tribe of Judah) which contains the name of God in Hebrew if you remove the Dalet. And that Dalet comes from the word Hebrew word, “hodah” which means to give thanks to God.

Thank you Pastor. Threads like this are what inspires me to hit the scriptures and always have my eyes opened to passages I have missed before. I always print out the lesson so as to have it beside me as I go through the listed scriptures, underlining as I go. Isn’t it wonderful that the Lord made the Bible in a way that no matter how many times you read it, something new is born out of it into your mind.

What country are the western powers concerned with right now.?

While not disagreeing with what you have written, it is also worth knowing that God worked through the “Christian nations” to solve the Jewish homeland problem after WWII and through one man in particular, a President of the United States, Harry Truman, to plan with the Jewish people to form a new nation and for the USA to formally recognize it immediately, help sustain it, arm it and maintain an ongoing friendship with Israel.

Truman was a Democrat, but as Democrats go (wrong on many issues), was a really decent guy. I’d pick him over Zero or RINOmney.

It just wouldn't be a day on FR without some hateful anti-Catholic ranting, would it?

What color was synonymous with the ancient Roman Empire. Red. The Catholic Church? Red.

Okay, so exactly how is red associated with the Roman Empire? Purple was the color of authority, wealth, and power in Rome, not red. Senators wore purple-trimmed togas. The Emperor wore a toga that was entirely purple. Red? Well, scarlet, close to red, was the second most expensive dye in the ancient world, so it was associated with wealth and power also, among Jews, Romans, and everyone else (cf Exodus 39:1).

Red, "synonymous" with the Catholic Church? Really? Dave Hunt says that purple and scarlet are synonymous with the Catholic Church. He's wrong, too.

Here's the Papal flag. I don't see much red on it, just a thin red rope binding the two keys together. Most of it is silver and gold:

vatican flag

How many Nazis did the Church help flee Europe? According to Sam Donaldson about 60,000 via the Rat Line.

Yes, and we should all believe everything Sam Donaldson, that paragon of conservative historical wisdom and objectivity, says, right? Does Dan Rather agree with him? And where is Keith Olbermann in all of this? /s

I have no idea how many Nazis "escaped" via the "ratline". I strongly doubt there were ever *60,000* Nazis who could have been legitimately tried for war crimes but who escaped justice. Six thousand, perhaps.

The "ratline" was mostly run by one man, an Austrian bishop named Alois Hudal, who was definitely a Nazi sympathizer. When the Pope found out about it, Hudal's operation was shut down and he was disciplined.

Oh, and about that Pope? According to former Israeli consul to Italy Pinchas Lapide*, Pius XII saved 860,000 Jews from the Nazis. The lie that Pius XII "did nothing" or "was silent," or the worse lie that he was in league with the Nazis (Hitler wanted to kill him!) is the residue of a KGB disinformation operation. Should we regard the trash that the KGB put out during the Cold War as gospel truth, as much as anything Sam Donaldson says?

We Catholics are frequently accused of calling any disagreement with Catholicism "bigotry". That's wrong; we don't do that. But I have no compunction at all about calling this garbage "bigotry," because that's what it is.

Only the Church stood squarely across the path of Hitler's campaign for suppressing truth. I never had any special interest in the Church before, but now I feel a great affection and admiration because the Church alone has had the courage and persistence to stand for intellectual truth and moral freedom. I am forced thus to confess that what I once despised I now praise unreservedly. -- Albert Einstein, quoted in Time magazine, 12/23/1940

I think we are seeing Amalek in action these days. Amalek so hates Jews that he is willing to abandon the Christianity (Esau/Edom) that has reconciled to the existence of Israel. Thus we see secularism (paganism) and Jew-hate rising hand-in-hand.

With what entity did the angel, who had a message for Daniel, contend with? (ultimately requiring Michael the ark angel’s help and it still took 40 days to reach Daniel)

That’s right, the Demonic “prince of Persia”!

By the way, it goes to show you just how extensive and far reaching the battles between light and darkness are occuring! Things are very wild and wooley across the whole of the quantum universe!

Within Jewish writings have always tied Edom, ancient Rome, the Catholic Church, and Christianity to Esav.

Like I said before the descendants of Esav and Yaakov now get along. Now it is a matter dealing with Esav’s grandson, Amalek, that we need to be concerned with now.
