Featured Term (selected at random):
Actual accounts of early Christian martyrdoms. The most reliable are those that follow the official shorthand reports of the trials and executions. Among the best known are the Acts of St. Ignatius, St. Polycarp, the Martyrs of Lyons, and the Passions of Sts. Perpetua and Felicitas, and St. Irenaeus. In the Western Church the Acts of the Martyrs were carefully collected and used in the liturgy from the earliest times, as witnessed by St. Augustine.

Catholic Word of the Day Ping!
If you arent on this Catholic Word of the Day Ping list and would like to be, please send me a FReepmail.
Does anyone keep track of the more recent official Martyrs of the Catholic Church?
In the newly released Roman Missal, many of the new martyrs are inserted.
I try to keep up with the beatifications and canonizations that are in the news, too, as does NYer.
Please take me off this ping list.
Thanks
