Pope Benedict XVI has completed the 3rd and final volume of his work, Jesus of Nazareth, the Vatican has disclosed.

The Pope's latest book, which focuses on the Gospel accounts of Christ's infancy, was apparently completed while the Pontiff was vacationing at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo. Pope Benedict has regularly used his vacation time for writing projects, and there are rumors that he is now working on an encyclical to introduce the Year of Faith that starts in October.

The 3rd volume of Jesus of Nazareth is now being translated from the German of the original manuscript into several other languages. A publication date will be announced once the first translations are complete. Vatican officials cautioned that the process of translation will be painstaking.

The 1st volume of Jesus of Nazareth, covering the period of Christ's life from the Baptism through the Transfiguration, appeared in 2007. The 2nd volume, with the subtitle Holy Week, covering the events from the entry into Jerusalem to the Resurrection, was published early in 2011.

Shortly after his election as Roman Pontiff, Benedict XVI indicated that he did not plan to continue the prolific pace of writing that he had previously maintained. His trilogy on the life of Jesus is the only book project he has written as Pope.

I am never going to read that—or at least, not ‘til I’m old and gray. It’s taking me so long to get through the first book of the series because there is so much brilliance, so much insight and wisdom, on every page that I have to devote a long time to considering each paragraph. And there are more insights with rereading. The intellect of this man is staggering. We are so amazingly privileged and blessed that God gave him to us at this point in history.

Amen! Isn’ that the truth. Each page and each sentence is a meditation in itself.

What a brilliant man! God has given him insight into the Gospels that is nothing short of miraculous.

I agree with all of you.

At this time I only have “Jesus of Nazareth”, the first of the Trilogy——I received it as a gift from my daughter and what a gift this beautiful work is!

Just one quote from Chapter Five ( “The Lord’s Prayer”)

“God addresses every individual by a name that no one else knows, as Scripture tells us (cf. Rev. 2:17). God’s love for each individual is totally personal and includes this mystery of a uniqueness that cannot be divulged to other human beings.”

How good God is! ..... and how graced we are to have Pope Benedict at this time in our history.

Are you saying that you don’t think he is entitled to a vacation?

Or do you just like to bash Catholics?

No comment is necessary for that post.

Let’s just move on.

I said nothing about vacations.
I am a Catholic.
I just think that addressing the continuing scandals of pedophilia and the Vatican bank take precedence over completing a 3 volume biography of Jesus. Jesus himself didn't have that many words!
