Timothy Dolan is the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The offices of that organization are located in Washington, D.C., and the USCCB is bascially a lobbying organization that functions as an arm of the U.S. government. If they had any credibility they'd be located somewhere in Iowa or Nebraska instead of in the shadow of Caesar's palace.
The guy is basically a political hack, so there's no reason to be any more deferential to him than you'd be to any other jack@ss in government these days.
