Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Isaiah 61

1. The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2. to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3. and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

Abba, Father, How Wonderful You Are!
And LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All the Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy To be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One true God of The Universe.
We Thank You, Father, For Your Holy Word,
Which You have allowed to be preserved through Your People,
We Thank You for Revealing Your Secrets Through Your Word,
To those who have will have eyes to see,
and ears to hear.
How Wonderful You Are,
How Holy and Righteous and Just in Your Judgments!

May Their Eyes be Opened with regard to God's People Israel.

We pray for an END to Lies,
Slander, Blood Libel, Propaganda,
and Antisemitism against Your Beloved.
We Pray For an End to Slavery,
Hostage-Taking,
and Piracy wherever it is Practiced Around the World.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands,

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Those who are familiar with the Gospels will recognize this passage of Isaiah as the Portion that was read by Jesus when He was called to the Bema in His Home Town of Nazareth. It is not stated whether this was the Assigned Reading for that Sabbath, or if Jesus CHOSE this Particular Scripture. However, most Students of Scripture regard this as the Inaugural of His Ministry.
