Thanks AM! I am seriously considering looking into it although I fully expect some pushback from a few family members. I mentioned it to hubby not long ago though and he didn’t run screaming from the room..lol...so I detect an opening. We like high mass too. We have been to the more relaxed Episcopal churches but just didn’t get into it. I love the rituals, symbols and music of high mass. What really got me thinking about it though was that great Catholic priest who recently stood up for traditional marriage on tv. I loved his fire. Father Dolan I think was his name but not sure. I have a lot of study to do though. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Dad on the other hand was like, "Do what you have to do."
Parents are fortunate in that they live in South GA, where the Episcopal bishop is a lot less hard-core heterodox pro-homosexual than the bishop in Atlanta. Plus their parish has its own endowment, so the bishop leaves them alone.
What it boils down to, though, is that you can't become a Catholic just because you're p.o.'d at the Episcopalian leadership. We did a lot of thinking and visiting around before we came to our decision that this is where Truth lives. And Adult Leadership, which is a good thing too.
You’re both very welcome.
I think I should clarify that as soon as I canonically and morally could I left the liberal parish and joined St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish in Charlottesville. We still are sometimes subjected to the dreaded “Green Gather” and at some Masses there are drums and whatnot.
But the 7:30AM Mass is Gregorian Schola all the way and the 9:00 is usually musically and liturgically very fine — and sometimes amazing!
We currently have four friars on board who are faithful and sound. For the most part RCIA, a seven-eight month course is very good. I’ve volunteered at it for 7 years and I learn every year.
There IS good stuff out there. Keep praying!
Thank you again for sharing your experience. I am going to look into the RCIA that you mentioned.
