Catholic Group Prays for Paul Ryan’s ‘Conversion’
Wall Street Journal ^ | 08/17/2012 | Alicia Mundy

Rep. Paul Ryan has been taking flak from church groups – including the relatively conservative U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the somewhat more liberal group Nuns on the Bus—because his budget could cut money from programs for the poor and elderly.

Now a group of fellow Catholics from his home state of Wisconsin, including some Franciscan Friars, are calling for the vice presidential hopeful’s “conversion.” The group launched a website, PrayforPaulsChangeofHeart.org, that asks visitors to “Please pray for Paul Ryan, a devout Catholic, to have a change of heart on the federal budget.” It includes a special Rosary prayer to St. Paul, “the great convert,” to bring about a transformation in the anti-deficit Republican.

The website also seeks prayers for Vice President Joe Biden, a Catholic who supports abortion rights. And the organizers say their prayers are going out “for President Obama, Governor Romney and all our national leaders, that their hearts may be moved to give greater priority to the well-being of the poor and most vulnerable, both the born and preborn.”

Mr. Ryan’s spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

And just where in Jesus's teachings does He teach or command Paul Ryan, or any representative in power in government, in the name of "charity," to coercively "take" the fruits of the labor of one man/woman or group of men/women in order to buy approval and votes from those who make up the latter group?

Anti deficit?

Funny...the little old Nuns that taught us back in grade school taught warned us of many sins -- but I don't recall being anti-deficit as one of them.

Yet another group of squishy ‘Catholics’ who have fallen for the liberal lie that welfare = charity. I would love to see my fellow Catholics band together and follow the teachings of the Church.

So the Cafeteria Catholics are all pissed off about Ryan being a Deficit Hawk, well boo de frickin hoo.

They can go eat host and drink sacramental wine for all I care.

They are nothing more but an extension of the Liberal Catholics that needs to be expunged from the church.

WRONG on all counts. The USCCB (Conference of Catholic Bishops) is controlled by social justice Obama leftists. The bishops are pawns in their hands.

Ryan’s own bishop came out in defense of his budget proposals.

And if you were listening to any of the proceedings of the most recent Bishops’ conference, you would have heard a number of bishops get up and publicly admonish Bishop Blaire of Stockton (not by name) for criticising Ryan’s bugdet in the name of ALL the bishops when they, in fact, had not done so. It was the staff at USCCB who issued the criticism.

Everyone must understand that the USCCB is controlled by a small group of leftist Democrats who are trying to hijack the Church just like the leftists have hijacked the Democrat party itself.

These people are NOT Catholics. They are Democrat political activists masquerading as Catholics. They are spreading the lie that corrupt government programs that bankrupt our country are in some way good and moral.

Like all institutions in America today the Catholic church is infiltrated by evil people. They condone homosexuality and corrupt politicians. They hide behind lies and false statements. They are not Catholics. It is as simple as that.

What is stopping the bishops from firing the out-of-control leftards hijacking the USCCB?

I went to PrayforPaulsChangeofHeart.org and found this post which runs an ad for Catholic Relief Services:

http://www.prayforpaulschangeofheart.org/what-s-happening/urgesenatorkohltoprotectthesafebox

Then this morning I viewed Michael Voris' new video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Vmy5EBh0-Cg#!

It's safe to say many people are confused (me, very much included). The Catholic Church keeps giving money to those who give money to pro-abort/pro-contraception organizations.

As far as Ryan's plan, I thought he wanted the Church to step in and help with the poor, instead of draining the government. Am I wrong?

RE: Another reason I don’t call myself a Catholic.

Just because someone calls himself a Catholic does not necessarily mean that he speaks for the church.

Count some “Catholics” who call themselves that but are pro-gay marriage and pro-abortion (including supporting a mandate that forces Catholic organizations to pay for contraception ):

Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, Joe Biden, Kathleen Sebelius, etc.

” I thought he wanted the Church to step in and help with the poor, instead of draining the government.”

This is a dead idea among most churches these days unless you visit Amish country. They are all into building glass cathedrals of self aggrandizement. If you look successful you must be good. If you want to have someone help someone donate to the Salvation Army.

These "catholics" want to STEAL money from others
so they can claim that they have provided Charity for the poor.

They need to seek YHvH in His WORD !

They are on the wide road to destruction.

Who is against the poor? I am just against sending money to the poor via Wash DC. Who is against teachers and Cops? I just do not want the money to be washed through DC.

"Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and unto God that which is God's."
- Jesus Christ

Since essentially everything is God's, I interpret this to mean that the vast majority of what we have should be used to do God's work, with government doing only the minimum that we are forced to permit it to do. Unless these Catholics are claiming that the federal government is the best judge of God's Will, or that there is just as much virtue in paying taxes to support Pelosi's bizarre agenda as there is in doing God's work on your own, I suspect they are confused. I would recommend additional Bible study for these misinformed nuns and Franciscans.
