Filmed in Europe, RESTLESS HEART is the first full-length feature movie on St. Augustine. Born in North Africa, Augustine studied in Carthage, becoming an accomplished but dissolute orator. After converting to Manichaeism, a guilt-free religion, he was called to the imperial court in Milan to serve as an opponent to the Christian Bishop Ambrose. But when the Empress Justina sent imperial guards to clear out a basilica where Augustine's mother, Monica, was worshipping, her constant prayers and the witness of Ambrose won him over to Christianity. Serving in Hippo in 430 AD, Bishop Augustine urged the Roman garrison to negotiate with the Vandal King Genseric, but they proudly refused. He passed up a chance to escape on a ship sent to rescue him by the Pope, and stayed by the side of his people. Christian Duguay directed the film, and the cast includes Franco Nero, Johannes Bandrup, Monica Guerritore and Alessandro Preziosi.
A tool for evangelization for Christians.
This is not a Catholic film, but a Christian film about an important early Church Father...

We were just discussing St. Augustine in our Bible study group last week. Hope we can get it shown close to us.

Please my seeming obtuseness, topher, but he was and is a Catholic saint. Do you mean that the film is made from a viewpoint other than Catholic, or are you trying to ensure that our separated brethren understand that they should see this?
It is my opinion the movie has merit for all Christians.
I am just concerned that some may be turned away by the fact the movie is being promoted by mainly Catholic organizations.

I since the movie has merit for all Christians, I do not want to see people be turned away by this.
His book Confessions is just as important to Baptists, Orthodox, Protestants, etc, as well as Catholics because it shows the forgiveness and salvation for hardened sinners.
And that is what the movie is based on -- the Confession of Augustine [of Hippo]
Augustine lived a pagan life for many years and even fathered a child out of wedlock.
He also became a Bishop in the Roman Catholic Church.
