The children of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

You Alone Are LORD;
You Alone Are The Most High!
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham,
You Are The Ancient Of Days,
LORD of Hosts,
and Rock of All Ages,
Our Creator,
You Have Made Us,

You Are The Same Yesterday,
Today, and Forever.
Your Loving Kindness Is from Everlasting To Everlasting.
Even When We Are Unfaithful,

We Pray for Our Own Leaders in America,
May They Speak Comfort to Jerusalem.
May We NOT be Numbered Among Israel's Enemies, God Forbid!
We Pray For The American People,
May They NOT be Deceived by the Media.
May Their Eyes be Opened with regard to God's People Israel.

We pray for an END to Lies,
Slander, Blood Libel, Propaganda,
and Antisemitism against Your Beloved.
We Pray For an End to Slavery,
Hostage-Taking,
and Piracy wherever it is Practiced Around the World.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands,

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

This less-than-positive Passage of Scripture is from the First Chapter in the Book of Judges. This Period, after the Death of Joshua, is one of the darkest times in the History of Israel.The People were bereft of leadership and "Everybody did what was right in their own eyes." It was a time of warfare, strife, and anarchy.
In this Chapter, The "Men of Judah" conquer Jerusalem and burn the city. However, they allow the former inhabitants, the Jebusites, to continue living there. This, of course, causes many future problems.
It reminds me a little of the 1967 decision to leave the Arabs in charge of the Temple Mount....Just a thought that crossed my mind as I read this.

This Passage also indicates how far back the relationship between Israel and Jerusalem actually goes.
