In a surprise announcement that seemed scripted by novelist Dan Brown, a Harvard professor revealed an ancient scrap of papyrus on Tuesday that refers to Jesus' wife. The so-called "Gospel of Jesus' Wife" presents a dialogue between Jesus and his disciples, said Karen King, a respected historian of early Christianity at Harvard Divinity School.

First, no one now knows if Christ was married or not.
Christ came to fulfill the law, one law was that a man marry. Jesus was called Rabbi. Although there are some examples today where a man might be an un-married rabbi but it would be rare, in the time of Christ ALL rabbis were married.
There have always been legends of Christ having children and them being carried off to southern France for their safety.
I would wonder why if Christ was married that from the cross He did not make an allowance for someone to take care of His wife and/or family, after all he did that for His mother and His mother had other sons and likely daughters to take care of her.
We don’t know and likely will never know, but, what difference does it make? With the exception of Paul the other Apostles had families.

When they are done with it, it could be stored in the ossuary discovered a few years ago whose inscription said that it contained the bone of “Jesus, son of Joseph.” (That would be like saying, “John Smith,” today.) Both could be conveniently filed in the same place Indy’s ark of the covenant was at the end of the first Indiana Jones movie or an equally accessible place.

Read the Book of Jeremiah, it contains some information related to this.

This is not a true statement. Christ was God with us in a flesh body. God created all souls, His children. It is likened to 'incest' for God in a flesh body to marry one of His children.
Furthermore, where in all of the Written Word, did God or Christ refer or call Christ 'rabbi'? There is great distinction in who does the talking.
And from what I understand about persecution during the time of Paul's writings, NOT getting married and having a family would be good advice on a practical, as well as "religious", level.
Now if the parchment just showed Jesus’ wife to be a guy...why..we’d be on to something.

Everyone knows the Ark is in Ethiopia, it was on the Discovery Channel or something. Of course we’ll just have to take some guys word for that since he wasn’t giving tours.
I,m far from being an expert in such matters but I would think, in the traditions of Hebrew culture in the 1st. century a.d that Jesus would have had a wife or certainly one chosen for him. Perhaps the Gospel writers felt she wasn’t important enough to be mentioned.
Aisha was six, not nine when he married her. He waited until she was nine before he consummated the marriage. What a role model he was!
Some gospels are shorter than others. Thirty-three words could be thirty three chapters and the same number of verses. It might be worth it just for the simplicity of footnotes.
Of course, the Catholic version will require more than thirty three words of introduction to this "Book." We'll have Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and...um...let's see...what was her name, again???
They can add it to the King James version. It can be a publisher's dream. Consider all those hotels and motels that will need to replace their inventory.
I am a little confused, though. Did the wife precede Jesus into the next dimension? If not, why didn't she show up at the Crucifixion? Maybe she was at the mall looking for new shoes.
Something tells me they won't be calling an ecumenical council to sanction this gospel.
My guess is that somebody mis-translated “... the Bride of Christ” - as meaning Jesus got married.
A lot of things can get lost in translation.
Oh yeah, the “Bride of Christ” is actually the “CHUCH”, or those who choose to be followers or believers in Jesus, the Son of God; Savior, Redeemer. Rom 10:9-10

My answer: I don’t take one unverified fragment as gospel.
People are so fixated on the idea of God coming down to have sex with His creation. It’s really a perversion of the mind of man.
