My Oldest Brother Needs Prayer

My oldest brother, Jim ... father of fourteen productive members of society has had cancer found in his lungs.

They will be doing CT Scans today to see if surgery is possible, which we all hope is the result.

Jim is the best hugger and radiates holiness and comfort ... and for years has taken food to the Sisters in Mexico, for them and for the orphanages ... he was called the "bread man of Orange County", until his trips became more than he could handle, and border crossing became so stringent.

Please join his huge fan base and family in prayer.

Your brother sounds like a giant of a man. He had the spirit to beat this, just as my friend beat his lung cancer.

God Bless all of my long-time FReeper Family, it does my heart, which has aged for many years with so many of you ... not just good, but fills it with warmth and joy ... and those with whom I have seen familiarly in more recent years.

While I would hope there is nothing to report until after the biopsies, I will let all know next week the doctors' decisions for Jim.

Following is the latest report from his daughter Maureen ... and we know it will be a waiting game:

New update.
I just spoke to Dr. Waddington, Dad's dr., just after Mom left.

He spoke with dad and brought him a picture of his PET scan.

The PET scan shows a bright tumor that he is fairly positive will be cancer.

He let him know that they still plan to biopsy the tumor and the lymphnodes as soon as his coumidin level is good.

Dr. Waddington will meet with his colleagues on Monday to determine the stage of cancer and the next steps to take. Nothing will be done over the weekend other than keep getting him off coumidin.

So please pray. I also just spoke with Dad and his attitude is still very upbeat, so try to be that way too....after you absorb the shock.

I will update again after his consultation with Waddington on Monday afternoon.

Today he is finally ready for endoscopy of the tumor itself and lymph nodes, so we will know this afternoon if it is operable.

I saw him on Sunday and he is so mellow and filled with Faith about all of this and is so popular with the staff, it is funny.

With such a big family, understandably, he has so many visitors that he uses a conference room to visit.

A very small family reunion so early on Sunday.

I just received this very good news from one of my nephews' daughters.

Great news!

Grandpa is out of surgery. Dr. Waddington did not find any cancer outside of the lung.

He said he looked all around just to make sure there was nothing. So he will have the next surgery next Tuesday to remove the tumor on his lung.

We expect grandpa will be in the hospital for the next couple weeks. But today's results are wonderful!
