More Lib fail: Romney’s charitable contributions don’t count. Because, Mormon church

Stormye Weather@Nuclear_Wynter

I wonder how much of Mitt Romney 's charity was to LDS?

21 Sep 12 Reply Retweet Favorite

Why would she wonder that, one might ask? Well, you see, lefties are evidently completely out of their minds. As Twitchy reported, the first bout of liberal outrage after Romney’s tax information was released was that he paid too much in taxes. No, really. Now, they must be humiliated by his incredibly generous charitable contributions. You see, Romney leads by example. This does not suit.

Plus, as we know, it is the Left that is full of anti-Mormon bigotry. So, the next unhinged outrage?

CatsPolitics@CatsPolitics

I give it till Monday for the press to say Romney's charitable giving was all to the Mormon Church. Then: they go after Mormonism.

Left criticizing Romney charity to Mormon church. Obama gave almost $54K to Jeremiah Wright's church 2005-2007. Jeremiah. F-ing. Wright.

Romney’s staggering charitable contributions do not count. Because, Mormon church. Or something.

Again, reminder: #Romney's "charity" bankrolled hate legislation Prop 8 in CA. motherjones.com/politics/2012/…

I really wish news organizations would quit lumping Romney's LDS tithe in with his "charity" contributions. Not quite the same thing IMO.

any story that talks about Romney's charitable contributions as if the Mormon Church were a real charity is misleading its readers

@badler So if you give to your church which runs a soup kitchen, that's not charity?

Ben Adler@badler

@mattduss right. stories about how Romney gives generously to "charity" when it's mostly to Mormon church are BS

Zing! Bingo.

This is all they have and it’s easy for them to hop right on that train, being anti-Mormon bigots and all. And, clearly, not knowing the meaning of charity and giving. All they do is take.

The media has marked the deck of cards or are not playing with a full deck. How can Romney win with this bunch?
They are all playing for Obama to win and will do or say anything to get him back in. They are burning to ruin the country forever. Some of us see it and know it it happening. Lots of people are too asleep to know what is going on.

But, but, but Obama said that all religions deserve respect, didn't he? Oh, I forgot, Christians and Jews are still fair game. Churches are charities regardless of whether you like the church or not.

I got into a fight with my communist democrat sister about Mitts wealth. After all the damnation of his money, I asked her, what about our cousin Dianne. They have at least as much money as Mitt and they tithe and do good works and are Republicans are they evil? Awaiting an answer.

My last ex-wife had been raised a Mormon. We got more 'support' from the Mormons than anyone else. I wound up getting a bunch of storable food for a very attractive price.

Their 'warehouses' are charities, in the truest sense of the word. I paid, because I could, but I paid cost. Those that couldn't didn't.

Liberals are obsessed with wealth because they want to sit on their asses in their basement waiting for a Govt check. They dont want to work..these same liberals who whine about wanting free goodies are the same ones that you saw today waiting in line for hours to get an iPhone 5..Romney donated millions of dollars to charity and these libs still find fault with it, of course they do, ANYTHING Romney does they will find fault with. Obama will always have the media in the tank for him because the media wants America to become Socialist too, they share his beliefs

Money REQUIRED by the cult to be given to them to finance war against Christianity is not mere “charity” to many conservatives.

I am stunned by the total ignorance displayed in those tweets. The “church” does not require anyone to tithe. God is the one who demands the tithe. Malachi 3:8-10

All committed Christians tithe. The tithes are used to further God’s Kingdom. Tithes have always been considered charity, even by the IRS.

Anyone else see the irony in those that do not want to count religuous charity as charity but support the proclamations by Obama and Biden that paying taxes is both patriotic and a moral obligation (i.e. collection salvation)?

So let me understand this... if one CHOOSES to belong to a church that demands a portion of your earnings under penalty of ??? it does not equate to charity (even if that money is used for worthy causes)? But, one can only achieve personal salvation through collectivism which requires under penalty of imprisonment a portion of your earnings to be used as bureaucrats see fit? And if one fails to do so, not only will they be damned, but they are unpatriotic as well?

Romney chooses to be of the Mormon faith and they can’t stand that. They want us ALL to be of the government faith... only the government can save us. (I think I just puked in my mouth typing that)

Doesn't matter what cards the media is playing with - nobody believes or trusts them anymore.

Gallup said that distrust of the media hit an all-time high this year, "with 60% saying they have little or no trust in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly."

Long have the Nazgul been driven by their lust for nonprofit tax exempt bank accounts. Any group of people, whether by faith or practice, that fail to bow before them and submit to their dark powers are objects of their wrath.

Vote as you wish, but we can’t knock conservatives off the path of clear eyed reality and truth, and it shouldn’t be required to do that, for you to vote as you believe.

Do LDSers usually vote? I would imagine that when they do it may be more Conservative, but then again isn’t Harry Reid a Mormon? If Mormons almost all come out for Romney will this make much of a difference?

A lot of people don’t realize that Mitt Romney’s father didn’t really help him get started in business and that when he passed away Mitt was already successful and gave the inheritence to his church.

FRiend, please give it a rest. We get it. You hate the Mormons and feel they’re the spawn of Satan, etc, etc.
If there’s anybody here who doesn’t know you feel that way, they’re not paying attention...

As I understand it, they vote more on average than other groups. Utah is VERY red. Harry Reid is a convert, Mitt Romney is descended from some of the main founders of the LDS and is very high up in their lay priesthood.

Well, no friend, you can defend and or promote Mormonism as you wish, but it isn’t required that we all accept Mormonism at freerepublic, just because one is the GOP candidate.
