In the name of our mighty Savior, who has given us bold access to Your throne, God, we pray for the United States of America and for the men and women who have volunteered to protect and defend us. Jesus, teach us to pray.
For our military men and women, we ask that You would send them this word: Proverbs 3:21-26 keep sound and godly Wisdom and discretion, Then you will walk in your way securely and in confident trust, and you shall not dash your foot or stumble. When you lie down, you shall not be afraid; yes, you shall lie down, and your sleep shall be sweet. Be not afraid of sudden terror and panic, nor of the stormy blast or the storm and ruin of the wicked when it comes [for you will be guiltless], For the Lord shall be your confidence, firm and strong, and shall keep your foot from being caught [in a trap or some hidden danger]. We want them fear free, protected and leaning on Your everlasting, ever faithful arms. Thank You, Sir, for moving them into that secret place.
For our Nation, Sir, Your people understand David and pray in agreement with Your Word given through him: Rescue us and deliver us out of the power of [hostile] alien [tribes] whose mouths speak deceit and whose right hands are right hands [raised in taking] fraudulent oaths. When our sons shall be as plants grown large in their youth and our daughters as sculptured corner pillars hewn like those of a palace; When our garners are full, affording all manner of store, and our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our pastures; When our oxen are well loaded; when there is no invasion [of hostile armies] and no going forth [against besiegerswhen there is no murder or manslaughter] and no outcry in our streets; Happy and blessed are the people who are in such a case; yes, happy (blessed, fortunate, prosperous, to be envied) are the people whose God is the Lord
We worship You and thank You for being able to lay our burdens down before You and know that You will take them. We are keenly aware that we can do nothing of ourselves, but You can do all things. Amen.
Thank you for praying today for our Nation and for our military.
Joining you in prayer for our Military and our Nation.
When I was young, I thought the cost of living in my parents home was too high. Looking back, I laugh at how ridiculous it was to complain. My parents never charged me a cent for living at home. The only cost was obedience. I simply had to obey rules like clean up after myself, be polite, tell the truth, and go to church. The rules werent difficult, but I still had trouble obeying them. My parents didnt kick me out for my disobedience, however. They just kept reminding me that the rules were to protect me, not harm me, and sometimes they made the rules stricter to protect me from myself.
The cost of living in the Promised Land was the same: obedience. In his final address to the nation, Moses reminded the people that the blessings God wanted to give them depended on their obedience (Deut. 30:16). Earlier he had told them that a good life would be determined by obedience: Observe and obey . . . that it may go well with you (12:28).
Some people think the Bible has too many rules. I wish they could see that Gods commands are for our good; they allow us to live in peace with one another. Obedience is simply the cost of being part of Gods family on this glorious globe He created and allows us to call home.
